There are always many factors working for and against you. A lot of people take astrological compatibility into account as well...I don't know how much I believe in that sort of thing, but I take notice of it and so far, all of the people I'm not supposed to be compatible with I wasn't compatible with...and most of the people I was supposed to be compatible with I was. But it doesn't seem to apply to regular old friendships with other males.

I'm probably going off topic here, though...I say weird things when I'm tired...

I take that astrological stuff with a pinch of salt. I'm suppossed to have Taurus as my ideal partner. Every taurus person i've met so far 9 times out of 10 is a prick

I was just kinda flashing back to how aweful my last relationship was too..... him and his whole family would allways be judging me, and be mad at me for allways staying in my room playing computer games etc..... not being social at holiday events etc...

With my aspie guy it totally rocks, because his family all understands already, so I felt loved and accepted... we would get sucked into puzzles and things at the dinner table, be humming and making funny noises, and nobody even seemed to notice! :D

I didn't feel guitly or judged at all..... it was wonderful. :D

then, because they were so understanding, I came right out of my shell.

So an Aspie, with another Aspie who's family understands it already can be an amizing thing I think. I have never felt so compfortable being myself before.

I'm staying away from Taurii. Unless they're built by Ford after 2008. :p

Yeah, it says I'm not compatible with Taurus, and every one I meet, I'm like "Well they certainly called that one..." 8)

It's not quite like that with my GF's family, but I like how they don't try to pester me with gobs of small talk.

They're kind of worried about her nephew though...he's only 2, and he already stims a little bit, and he can toewalk like nobody's business.

I've had some experiance dating aspies lets just say neither of them turned out too well. The first guy eventually bored me and I eventually found his aspie traits to be stupid and annoying. He was a bit older and more aspie then I was, I look back on the situation and thought we were both being stupid and despirete. I mean theres so many goddamn things he did that woulda pissed me off today that I just find plain stupid.

The other guy, I never officially dated him, we sorta dated a little. Our aspie traits ended up majorly pissing each other off. And he was pretty damn despirete. He really wanted me and if I woulda gotten into a relationship with him, it would have exploded in our face. Good thing we never actually went into a relationship. I cannot express to you how much of a douche this guy was.

While I would give other aspies a chance, dating aspies is probablt not the ideal situation for me. In the future I will give them any equal chance Id give an NT. I cant just write off aspies because of 2 bad experiences.

Well, it depends. Most of the people I know who seem to be on the spectrum have similar interests to mine, so it's easy to get along with them.

I could imagine if I met an Aspie who was interested in basketball and paper dolls, we would have difficulty seeing eye to eye.[/quote]

lol... definatly...

We luckily have rediculous amunts of the best things (to us) in common, so it rocks. :)

Aspie guys are hawt, I'd date one. :P

In all seriousness though, I would go out with an aspie guy if I fancied him. But I wouldn't only stick with the same types of people, I don't care really.

Hmm I don't like the idea since I'm pretty much "cured" of social skill issues. But if I could find an attractive looking female aspie with my level of social skills I would literally chase after her....not like that's gonna happen...honestly the chances of one being in this state and finding her is literally 1/1000000 if not more.

My girlfriend (I've mentioned her before...) displays some autistic traits, but I'm not going to push her to self-diagnosis.

I knew some people in college that are autistic. One diagnosed HFA, one diagnosed AS, one suspected AS. There seemed to be an immediate connection with them that isn't normally there with neurotypicals. I feel that this is a pretty universal trait among autistics. And, while it's possible to have that connection without a serious relationship, I don't think it's possible to have a serious relationship without that connection.

I've recently begun dating an Aspie and I suspect that I, too, am an Aspie. This is the first relationship I've been in since seriously thinking I've AS, and the first diagnosed AS I've dated. We're in the very early stages of dating, but I'm both worried and excited about the prospects. We've plenty in common, plenty of differences, and his AS traits I've seen and been told of so far do not bother me one bit. What worries me most, though, is what I might do to annoy him. lol

I'd have to agree that dating someone who has a stronger understanding of my own behaviors comforts me, allowing me to come out of my shell quicker. I have problems with meeting new people sometimes where I'll just clam up and hardly say two words, and the two words I say often come out completely wrong and are enough to ruin the encounter.

I think our biggest problem is now we hide out from the rest of the world, 24/7.... just in our own world together, neglecting any and everything else....

But we do make use of computers to substitute for that deficit in some respects

Hmmmm....I really don't know if I would do it again. On the one hand, I have had a lot of trouble with NTs expecting too much in the way of social skills and ability to remember things and acting like "I don't care" when it's really that I can't express it....BUT, the one time I had an aspie BF, it was so wonderful while it lasted BUT it caused me the most pain of any relationship because it ended with a "dump and run and no more contact" on his part, which I have come to understand is more frequent among the male AS population.

Maybe I'm just destined to be a cat lady.

I am currently seeking an 'official' diagnosis for myself, and my partner is a suspected Aspie (but he's not yet decided if he wants to know for sure), and all I can say is that I've been with NT's (married one in fact) and I've been with my partner. My experience is that there is this 'thing', this connection between Scott and I that I cannot even remotely begin to explain. Perhaps it is that we are meant to be together, maybe it's our compatible astrological signs , or maybe we just 'get' each other like no one else can, but whatever it is, it's divine!

On the other hand, when things are tough, they are hell! ! We have our problems, and they are mostly related to how we communicate with each other. The most important thing is that we recognize that the problems stem from our inability to articulate ourselves to the other person, and usually it's all a misunderstanding. Once we sort it all out, we are back to bliss...

Sometimes when we go thru a really rough spot, I wonder if it would be easier with an NT...only one weirdo in the relationship, someone to teach me how or why my actions are inappropriate, etc., but then I have to remind myself that I lived for a decade with an NT and the entire time I was wishing I was with my partner again! So while it was easier to be with that NT (he basically let me do/say/get whatever I wanted), it was also super destructive on my emotional and spiritual self, and I was so lonely in that relationship that all the money in the world and all the material possessions couldn't keep me there once I realized what the problem really was...I was incomplete without my Aspie man, and I wouldn't be happy until I had him again.

I don't think it matters much to me whether a potential mate is Aspie or NT, as long as I feel respected and loved by that person.
