I definitely know where you are coming from. I met my first girlfriend in an adolescent unit (thankfully one that had a few camera blind spots), and I saw several other people find love there as well (yes, I was there a long time). Sadly, I split with my girlfriend eventually, but I met many long term friends that have similar issues to me that have been invaluable. Most of my friends I met in mental hospitals!

I find this quite offensive. As a schizophrenic myself I find a lot of people have the misconception that people with serious mental illnesses are dangerous or untrustworthy, and this is often far from the truth. Many people that are very ill in this way tend to withdraw themselves, not lash out. In fact, a mentally ill person is more likely to be a victim of violent crime, especially crimes by people with misconceptions similar to yours.
Just a heads up.
