Everyone is a potential serial killer. Most people never actualise that potential.

Do you really think so? Maybe a potential killer, but serial killer?

The media are very adept at making people look like monsters, it seems they pick the worst or most 'accusatory' (not sure what the word should be), pictures of anyone who has done anything wrong who's in the limelight because of their wrong doing or 'faux pas', be it killing, theft, having an affair or just making a slip of the tounge; any picture where they are caught off guard and look like they are about to rip someone's head off makes the front page.

But most of those serial killers do 'look' quite normal on the outside.

I stopped caring about the fact that people think I'm a serial killer a long time ago.

Jeez, just kill a few people and you're branded for life...

Yeah, the charming ones are the really treacherous ones.

The quiet withdrawn ones are the ones that light up a post office with an AR-15 after being fired. Or go Columbine. Different sort of dangerous altogether.

I do. I figure if you can kill one, then why not 2 or 1000?

I also believe that everyone has the potential to do the most extraordinarily beautiful and kind and loving things too.

I guess so, but I suppose I have this set definition of serial killers that they have a compulsion and a dark, twisted need to kill over long periods of time.
Whereas, most people have the potential to kill if they are in a certain situation, e.g. defending themselves, or someone they love or even defending a stranger; or if they've just lost it with one particular individual because they were causing them some sort of harm; but, they wouldn't then think "whoa, I really enjoyed that, I'll go do it again, but for no apparent reason".

The other side is those, (like Shebakoby mentioned), who kill in a frenzy. And although, by definition, they would be serial killers, it never occurs to me that they are serial killers; because they seem to plan out their frenzy with the intent of killing themselves afterwards, they want to reap their revenge and then die themselves, they have no intention of ever doing it again! (And by the way I'm not condoning it or defending it)

Anyway, I don't know why I'm blathering on about this! (Morbid curiosity only, I swear...............I hope!)

Also, I agree with your last comment!

I know some folks here don't like the use of the word "creepy," but people who make up the list above are the reason females (especially young ones) like to err on the safe side. The vast majority of victims of serial killers are female (especially college-aged, teenagers, and preteens), with mostly preteen boys, gay guys, and--in the U.S. at least--non-white guys making up the minority. There are of course female serial killers, but they make up a teeny tiny percentage of all serial killers, and their victims are usually little kids or the elderly. The males they would kill are usually their spouses or someone they've been in a long-term relationship with, not people they've been on a date with two or three times.

So the next time someone calls you creepy, don't take it personally. It's not you, it's these serial killers who came from a similar background as you (loner, socially awkward, crappy love life, love-hate attitude toward women as a group, a superiority complex based on a 120-something IQ, etc. etc.).

(Also, while reading stuff about serial killers, I came across a story about an old man in the early 1900s who liked to kidnap little kids and ate them. For whoever made that thread about strangers, that is probably the reason most of us were taught not to talk to strangers no matter how harmless they seemed.)

You just like to put the aspie guys in a bad light.

Many serial killers were odd, true .....but most of them were socially charming and charismatic.

There are at least 4 members here(or ex members) who fit the bill of a serial killer, even if they aren't one. Resent and hate women.

Yeah, they are anti social. But anti social people can pull off the charm, it's called a sociopath. (sp)

It's not the "normal guys" you have to watch out for, it's the sociopaths or "Mr Blend ins" And sadly, aspies can sometimes be mistaken for one.
I don't think the emphasis is on how "normal" the guy is. It's his attitude to other people which matters.

Also movies don't usually portray serial killers as creepy looking. It's the other way around, they pick the person you least expect.

Creepy is a vibe, its not about how someone looks. If you give off a doddery vibe it's creep.

The guys in that article definietly look like creeps. And those are really bad serial killers who look and act like serial killers, so creepy looking and acting serial killers can't be that rare.

No, don't take it it personally. Just pull that big ol' Bowie knife out of your belt and eat their liver.

Some think the serial killer Jeffrey Donner was autistic. He had problems with women because of his supposed autism & that was his motivation
