we did go out for a little while but he moved away BUT i ended up moving right near him which is awesome! he seems to be afraid that he'll get trapped if he's in a relationship. he's very focused on his work and being able to move around if he has to for work. he also once said that he "can't give me what i need or want". ...i dunno what i asked of him :( ...other than my hugs!

Awh. Maybe instead of it being labelled 'relationship' - it could just be fun!

I kind of brought it up again that i'd like it to be a little more than friends but he said he needed a lot of time to think about it. so, i won't pressure him. I'll wait. i can't complain...i'm still granted hug AND cuddle permission. not. bad. at. all!

I never understood this concept of cuddling outside of a relationship... to me the act itself is just as intimate as sex. But then again i'm incredibly touch-sensitive and a good squeeze is just as physically stimulating overall as sex would be. So I tend to think of it as something that only emotionally intimate partners should do...

Now if they were combined, I can't even begin to imagine.

I agree. He doesn't get hugs or cuddles from anybody but me. His fear just seems to lie in actually dating somebody and getting trapped but he won't stop all the good stuff with me. I know he likes the hugs and cuddles and I like it too and I'm OK with it because I know neither one of us does it with anybody else. So, it's like still having him but just without the actual dating title. I think he's still kind of confused on things. So, I'm giving him his time to think :) I crave one of our movie nights sooooooo bad right now. Soooo bad.

Things are easier without the labels a lot of the time.

"I expect those" (hugs) - 1) Aspies generally have a reputation for not wanting to be touched uninvited (hugs, handshakes, etc.), so he is telling you that he does not fit that stereotype and is quite comfortable with this strange but tolerable human behavior.
2) I'm trying to be Don Juan, but this is the best thing I can think of to say to try to encourage intimacy.

Meowing to get your attention because you like cats.
1) Aspies can have a really playful, silly, dry, and even boundless sense of humor. So while behaving like a cat may seem borderline sick to NT's, to an Aspie, it's another playful way to shake things up and break the monotony that he sees in typical every day social interaction.

Sounds like he's attempting to flirt with you and just being a bit awkward about it. I don't think it's anything bad.

I kept thinking he's trying to encourage the hugs but wasn't sure because I rationalize everything to be so positive and hopeful in my head and I want him to like me still. :) It took him a week after I told him I liked him last year to reciprocate the feelings. So, taking even longer to make this current decision must be something even bigger to him. He said he couldn't sleep for a week after I told him I liked him. Then, of course, life got in the way and we parted but we're kinda getting a second chance now. Well, not kinda...REALLY.

He does have a quirky, dry sense of humor. He'll giggle at things I say that I don't think would get a laugh. I'm quirky too though. He definitely knows that I like cats! :P

That's exactly what I thought the reason would be. That sounds like something I'd do to get somebody's attention.
