'Husky' means having a croaky voice as far as I'm concerned.

And if I were fat, I'd have the same opinion as I do now about it, which is that weight probably doesn't need to be mentioned at all.

Em, correct me if I'm wrong, but the OP is referring to what overweight ladies should be "called" in the sense of "a descriptive adjective referring to their appearance," not a "replacement for their name."

He's not suggesting we replace people's names with an adjective:

"Hi, Fatty! How's it going?" instead of "Hi, Cassandra! How's it going?"

but rather this scenario:

"Do you know Cassandra?
No, I don't. Which one is she?
She's the one over there, that tall one with the brown hair, who's slightly...em...overweight."

Like it or not, our weight (be it fat or thin) is one of the things people will most remember about us and will use when describing us to other people, along with hair colour and eyes. So I think that what the OP was trying to say was, in this scenario (descriptive adjectives being used to refer to your person) what word would you prefer to be used when describing you?? It's not a "label" or a replacement for your name...just a means of identifying you in a crowd.

In my case, I'd go with "curvy." :)

I would find it offensive to have my weight mentioned in that context (or any context), so the need should not arise. There isn't a polite way to do it at all. If you are going to be rude, be rude, but there isn't a polite way to be rude.

i would prefer if people were more aware of their body mass index and body fat %. than you could objectively label them. for example i am BMI 24.8 and 12% body fat. you can't mess that one up with some subjective description such as "average" or "slightly athletic". if i was standing next to one friend i would be the "fat" one, yet standing next to a different friend i would be the "thin" one. if we all got used to BMI we would be able to eyeball it, and than people couldn't hide their real body type behind some pic posted on the internet.

i don't know about you, but if i meet some girl who was described as "curvy" and she ends up being fat i walk away. somebody lied to me and i am not very forgiving on dishonest people.

What you can't hear, you won't take offense at.

I fail to see what is "rude" about referring to somebody's physical appearance (hair, height, eye colour, build) as a means of making sure two people are both talking about the same person.

I'm holding a handful of what happened when Russian met German in 1942.

I'm confused.

I know threads can get off track really fast, but this one has me beat.

How are those stones related to women?

I understand, I think, but I'm not going to answer.

Well, I'll give it an attempt. Germany overran parts of Russia in 1942, and Russia is still resentful over it. Am I right?

Those are not just stones, but bones.

Joking...

To answer your question: Just the usual Aspie Stream-of-Consciousness at work - usually ends up with pictures of kittens or how to survive the Zombie apocalypse though...
