Have you NEVER had a girlfriend. If so, why?
By "internet dating", do you mean having an online girlfriend or using dating websites like okcupid to find real life girlfriends?
If you meant the latter, isn't it true that finding a girlfriend on the internet is very difficult if you don't make a lot of money, look like a male model, etc? I mean, in real life there is the chance there will be a connection between you and the other person. Online you are essentially judged on a bunch of stats that might not accurately reflect who you are as a person.
I do mean the latter, although that doesn't preclude the former, or the former becoming a "real life" girlfriend.
Most such websites allow to include a narrative and reasonably descriptive attributes, which is one area where you can help differentiate yourself from the typical "I like long walks on the beach, travel, and I'll buy you stuff, also, can has sex nao?" rubbish that most males write, if you have any sort of writing skill. It is true that you will be unfairly judged on your salary and "male model-ness" (possibly more so in the USA than Australia, maybe it's something of a cultural thing), but by who? The sort of women you aren't interested in anyway. There are still quite a few women who are interested in geeky men, and Internet dating allows you to waste the least amount of time with women who by your personal tastes are dead ends.
Perhaps you could give me some tips on how to set up a decent online dating profile. I tried to set one up one time but couldn't think of anything to write about besides the type of generic BS you referred to.
I also wonder whether the type of women who would be interested in someone like me (assuming those women exist) are the type of women I would feel attracted to.

I can tell you what worked for me, it may not work for you depending on who you are and who are trying to attract, obviously. Come to think of it, who are you trying to attract?
Anyway:
* Don't suppress your intelligence; write in your natural style. Avoid exaggerating it (intelligence), though.
* If you have clear requirements or wants in a partner, state them clearly, and describe how you would like your relationship to work. If you want a girl to eat pizza on the couch and watch Monty Python movies with and yell at news anchors when they use logical fallacies and mispronounce words, say that. If you definitely don't want a smoker, say that. This is your opportunity to filter out dead ends pre-emptively and sell yourself to the right kind of girl.
* Use a little humour, especially if it is important that your date share your sense of humour, and especially if others consider you funny, but don't use self-deprecating humour too heavily or you may appear emo and/or depressive (which is not to insult either category of people, but if that's you, you may not be ready to date).
* Try to smile in your profile photo, don't make it look like a police mug shot. Smiling in photos was unnatural for me, but the girl probably wants the kind of photo where she can see what you look like when she makes you happy rather than the kind of photo that shows her what you look like when she puts the meat on the wrong shelf in the fridge.

There's a few things:
I'm married now, but I didn't date on a one on one basis till 35. I've been out with a few friends prior( in my early 20's) and you could say with their friends, so as a double date, but they were looking for the ring finger ring rather than 'knowing you personally.' I worked, had a place, transportation, nice guy, etc.
Looking retro, I think I'm married now because we are both strange birds -- ( 'birds of feather') as we are both attention deficit.
Most neurotypical females I've noticed with time, just shy away from me-- if I let my eccentric side show it's over. And I don't have the outgoingness needed to carry it. At my worst with this condition, I just can't interface the emotonal side of a conversation. My attention is all over the place-- red flag here.
A strong sense of scepticism.
Unable to find women that actually like me.
An inability to see the role of the other person.
Being too serious.
Also very overweight and therefore very unattractive conventionally - but not unattractive to everyone, not by any means.
Being on disability, and living with parents is not exactly attractive either.

Probably because my social life is almost limited to work and not to much anything else. I am too a 'house' person.
Also, not having a car made things way harder.
Another major reason is that I don't really exhibit body signs of romantic/sexual interests. Romance and sexual-wise, I am typically a SPD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizoid_p ... y_disorder
I am not much of a looker either ;p
I have social anxiety, and have no idea what to say to women. I have never even kissed a girl before, and I'm 29 next month
I used to use Aspergers as an excuse, but then I come here and see that people with AS ten years my junior are in relationships, so there really must be something wrong with me.
I've had girlfriends in the past, I was even married and have two children, but I've never had relationship based on love, so I kind of feel like I've never had a "real" relationship.
I'm independent, a successful entrepreneur with a very good income, healthy, active, widely read, well-travelled and intellectually curious, not hideously ugly - but being a middle-aged Aspie weirdo kind of cancels all that out... ![]()

I don't like girls.
Anyways, I haven't had a boyfriend ever either.
But I'm ok with that for now, because HS relationships are all stupid.
But I hope to have a relationship sometime in college!
I haven't had a boyfriend either because of this disease and some social anxiety but I feel exactly the same way ^_^
I don't like girls that much either, they are harder to talk to then males.
Seeing as I'm also a female, maybe we can be acquaintances on this message board instead of friends.
Maybe I'll find someone when I transfer to a University instead of this Community College.

Yup, stupid HFA.
Well, girls are easier to talk to IRL, and boys are easier to talk to on the internet.
Instead of friends? What's the difference?
You can talk to me on here or PM whenever if that's what you mean.
I'm going to BYU-Idaho in the fall, so I am hoping to date a lot there....or date a normal amount, or even just date.

I don't know, some people say there is a difference. Acquaintances are people who you casually speak to. Friends are people you talk to 24/7 about anything. IDK now that you mention it.
