It would really depend on the religion and the guidelines within it that they actually follow. For example, I wouldn't date an extremely conservative christian/catholic generally speaking. Unless the particular individual was perfectly fine with homosexuality and porn, etc.

I would think if religious affiliation was that important to someone, they'd find out what it is before you became their boyfriend/girlfriend.

It matters not to me. The only thing I care about is if the religious beliefs would directly affect me and how they treated mine. Mine are... a bit much for a lot of people to handle. ^_^

Can't really sum them up in one label effectively. I don't think I should derail this thread with my long list of oddities, though. ^_^

There should be another option in the poll. I would only break up with someone for their religion if the tried to force their beliefs on me.

I believe that the spirit of Zul will break purgatory parole,
and materialize in the form of a giant phosphorescent anemone
to battle with exploding snails from the galaxy of Andromeda,
after which, the people with prime zip-code #s will ascend to heaven.
Those with composite zip-codes will go to hell.
The rest go to the Candy Kingdom.
... unless the snails win, in which case we all go to whatever is left of the moon and eat cheese every other month.
This has happened before in 1700 and I have a feeling this happen again in 2015.

Any woman who doesn't agree with my beliefs is stupid  and can go away.

(... just kidding)

I am an athiest since the age of 5, so I would feel sorry for someone who believed in that make believe hocus pocus non-sense god in the sky BS. I would worship nature before a god though. it is tangible you can touch and experience if you can treat it right and it will award you. Treat it badly and it will punish you.

I remember when a waitress who was a holier than thou born again christian who blamed a little girl's cancer on her mother's not being married and going out on Saturday nights. She said the little girl's cancer was god's punishment of her mother. Our boss had to fire her people were leaving messages threatening to kill or rape her. One comment based on one idiot's religious belief caused so much turmoil at our job where just a few days before we were all getting along with oneanother until religion was thrown into the mix. Ever since that day seeing everyone's reaction and not to mention seeing what 9/11 religious jihadists did in their god's name have soured me towards organized religion.

I like how the Judeo/Christian/Islamic beliefs think non-believers are infidels or heathens yet there are several religions that have been around centuries before their beliefs were even written down or practice. Who is right, who is wrong, who really cares?

If they were able to understand that I don´t want to be converted and their religion wasnt the only thing they talked about(don´t enjoy discussions about religion between people with different views since its come to my understandment that someone´s bound to "be hurt"at some point) I dont see religion as a dealbreaker.

I'd be interested to know too, Tea. Are they similar to mine?

I follow mysticism (base beliefs- re-incarnation)
And Evolution (not a religion, but I'm stating it because people tend to assume that unless you're atheist you don't believe in evolution.)

Mysticism isn't REALLY a religion though, more of a spiritual standing.

My religious beliefs are simple. I don't believe in god.. and that's that, I don't really care. I'm not a crazy atheist out to change other's beliefs and try to disprove god's existance, I just am. I don't believe in him.

Quite honestly religion takes a backseat to everything in my life..

if they were wiccan(or some other pagan faith), secular humanist, or mormon or muslim... that would definitely complicate things.

I agree, but what if a.) you wanted kids, and b.) you ended up having kids? Would you let them be indoctrinated into your partners faith, for their right to choose, or split it inter-faith-ish between both of your faiths or religious outlooks?

I don't care about other peoples religions, so long as they didn't want to change mine. Then I would be mad and probably break up. I don't like having ideas forced on me.

If I wanted kids I would make my partner aware that I think that forcing a child to join a religion just because their parents practice it isnt the way to raise a child and that our child can make a choice of their own as soon as they reach an age where they are mature enough to make such decision and I will support them on whatever their decision is as much as I can.

I'm a Secular Humanist & we're pretty liberal & believe people should have the rite to think & decide for themselves what to believe or not so as long as my partner was accepting of my beliefs; I would be accepting of her's
