IDK about this whole 'on one knee' proposal thing, though. It seems like a hollow gesture. I mean... isn't it uncomfortable for most people? Meh... I don't get most 'romantic' stuff.

Yeahh that would make me really uncomfortable. :?

Hmm anyways. If I were to marry, I would like it to be before I am 30... I always wanted to get married really young, but guess that didn't happen...

6 years are a lot of time to meet someone/fall in love/be in a relationship until you are "sure" its going to work and marry.
Why are you already given up on finding someone?.
Sorry to sound harsh but theres a quote on star trek that I cant find right now which says that its unlikely that a man is unable to find a suitable partner in 20 years but if he makes himself believe that the situation is hopeless and he should just give up its unlikely that he finds one(or something, not a trekkie so its probably wrong).

I think that age should not be a factor, because the level of maturity of both the guy proposing (or girl, in places where same-sex marriage is legal), and the girl faced with the decision, should be rather decent.

This means that:

Both people's baggage should be in a manageable state (because everybody has some sort of baggage, but they should know how to deal with it effectively). This means, for example, that any sort of trust and insecurity issues should be overcome, and that both people should be past the teenage-era peer pressure phase, and not getting married so they can say they have a spouse because "everybody else has one", or out of fear of being alone.

Both people should be in some sort of career, because should the marriage fail, both people should be able to financially support themselves. However, in these economic times, I understand that one or both people might have difficulty finding work.

Haven't given up. I just don't much care anymore. But yes, Star Trek is always right... No more negativity here. I promise.
