I WILL NEVER put those filthy chemicals just to look Attractive to other people! I want someone who cares about who I am, and makeup and femininity are NOT me. You're asking people to change who they are, and I won't do it.

That's fine, as long as you realise doing so has consequences. The consequence being most men will think you are grossly masculine and/or a die hard lesbian - it would limit your available dating pool. Knowing that and still choosing to stick by your values is admirable. But you can't then be complaining on forums that you can't find a guy you like who will put up with an unshaved unkempt woman who refuses to wear even a little bit of makeup.

Have you ever seen me complain on these forums? I am glad to limit my dating pool as long as it means limiting it to people who are more compatible with me. Also, I like that I seem more masculine to males because they're more likely to be able to be my friends and not just see me as a dating opportunity. I know I'm grossly masculine. I wouldn't have sex with myself, either.

Desmond Morris does not have a degree in anthropology or any other applicable area. he took Zoology in university and pronounced himself an expert on humans. he is heavily criticised and his writings are popular but not considered reputable by real scholars. he applies zoological principles to human behaviour, but he doesn't really seem to fully understand either. his books are not scholarly, they are pap for the masses.

I'm sorry to destroy your illusions, but muscles and alpha male behavior will in no way guarantee success with women.

As I've been saying in another thread, in order to make any claims regarding "alpha" behavior, you first need to comprehend what "alpha" behavior actually is.

In male chimpanzees, the position of "alpha" is not attained through pure physical strength, a "cocky attitude," or being a "jerk."

A single male chimpanzee is not strong enough to gain control of a family group by himself, so he largely relies on "alliances" between himself, other alpha males, beta males, and females. Alpha males who allow their "alliances" to crumble run the risk of being "dethroned." Subordinate alphas can attain the rank of dominate alpha through the same method, as can beta males. In short, access to sex and power in chimp society is governed mostly by.....*drum roll*.....SOCIAL SKILLS. Females can, and do, support beta males during "power plays." Beta males also regularly "sneak" sex with females out of view of the alphas. Most everything comes down to a chimp's ability to "suck up" to other chimps.

As for "alpha males = jerks," researchers have observed many different leadership styles among dominate males. Some are tyrants. Others are kind. And abusive males can be "punished" by the group.

I highly recommend Chimpanzee Politics. It is really quite a fascinating book. Understanding the complexities of chimp society makes "pop culture" interpretations of the alpha/beta/omega dynamic quite ridiculous in comparison. And that's to say nothing of the individual variances between specific chimps.

Take care.

Homo also has by far the largest penis of the great apes and this may be sexually selected in much the same way as the larger testicles of Pan, another possibility is that the size of the human penis has resulted from selection for efficiency in displacing the sperm of rival males during intercourse.

That's really revealing, but pointless. Humans are not apes, and in social situations we are normally dressed. Furthermore, the process of selection extends over such a long period that it doesn't matter for the individual.

About the testicles, polygamous species of mammals have on average much bigger ones than monogamous. This also applies for different types of apes.

And generally, are we talking about alpha male behavior or the size of one's sex equipment here? I'd assume that those who need to show off with their attitude do it out of a need to compensate for a more modest size below the belt line.

Again, i'm honestly glad for you since obviously you've found a way to improve your life and enhance your self--esteem. That's great and there's nothing wrong with it if it's working for you.

However, you seem to be so enthusiastic about your success that you're pretty much exaggerating the whole thing.

Quote:

But you are in complete control over how you react on it. To find a person sexually attractive does not necessarily mean to act it out. We are not victims of our sex drive and desires. When it comes to mate choice, many other aspects are involved.

I deny this statement decidedly.

No sane woman would even accept this "evil oppressive system", let alone to be happy in it.

The myth of male superiority comes from a time when people had to perform physically hard work and muscle strength was an advantage. But already during WW 2 women did the same jobs as men. Nowadays women succeed in the same careers as we do, without exception.

Again, and i can't stress this enough, if your alpha attitude makes you happy, i'm completely fine with it. But alpha males are not a panacea for social problems.

The world is complex, multifaceted and often contradictory. There are no easy solutions.

In the professional field, e.g., an alpha male could do a great job in warfare or as athlete. But probably he would not have the skilled hands of a surgeon, the educational skills of a teacher, the empathy of a therapist, or the diplomacy of an ambassador.

@ XfilesGeek you are assuming too much about Game and what I call "Alpha behaviour" What you are referring to is a**hole Game, it's not much more than a footnote, a footnote that says it works on a larger number of women than you would expect, but it's bad, even toxic form and any relationship created from it is going to inherit those traits. The leadership traits (or least the signs of them) you discuss in Chimpanzees is closer to what is taught. Btw I laughed at beta chimps "sneaking" sex out of view of the alphas who get most of the attention I imagine, that's pretty much what I describe the current sexual marketplace to look like

@PTSmorrow the quote on sexual characteristics was just an interesting tangent, nothing more.

Yeah that's exactly what I said.

I agree. However, a collection of unfortunate events, toxic ideologies, modern living standards and poor parenting has left women almost entirely at the mercy of their instincts when it comes to mate choice. (At least until they hit 35-39 and male attention dries up)

It's true that attractive people get ahead. Pretty girls have the world at their feet, the same is true for dominant (attractive) men.

All except the gay ones yeah or maybe the ones with extremely out-there specific fetishes. You're telling me if you were faced with a young good looking naked girl, you wouldn't be aroused at all?

I'm not suggesting we go all Hitler about it, but there's a world of difference between tolerating abnormal sexual behaviour and pride marches. People should be encouraged into forming and maintaining heterosexual nuclear families and because that is what is best for society (until a better solution comes along).

Bollocks. People are about as different from one another as cats are to other cats. Lots of different quirks, different furs, different faces, different voices. It's true that humans, being a lot more intelligent than most animals have a much more complex surface persona that varies between individuals, but even that persona manifests itself in the same ways over and over and over (hello entire field of psychology) .The animal beneath is more or less the same. The animal behaviours (like for example, mating) are more or less the same too.

Dominant and attractive are two different traits which are not linked together.
You state both have the world at their feet but that's not necessarily true. The outer appearance of a person may attract attention and increase their chances of a good job. But if they don't meet the requirements, they'll get fired. No boss would risk to go bankrupt for them.

And the models and movie stars? Maybe one in a thousand of similar good--looking people actually manages to get hold of a contract.

Certainly, a nice appearance is more pleasant to be around, but it's not all. Qualifications, commitment, and perseverance (to name just a few) are at least as important.

Although i consider that you're very young yet, i wonder if it ever crossed your mind that women are members of the same species.

Definitely my last word on this topic: These young women are not pregnant by parthenogenesis. For each of these pregnancies is also a young man responsible. Same applies for contraception -- young guys can use condoms. It always takes two, and it's cheap and stupid to put all the blame on the young women.

The article is very interesting and highly recommendable. It says that women are less happy than they've been in the past and that they're less happy than men (on average). That's very sad, but doesn't mean they would be happier with an alpha male. On the other hand, men are obviously happy regardless of their rank. Perhaps someone should ask the women what would really make them happy.

It seems you have no more idea of cats than of humans. But back to humans, they are different and unique in every sense. They differ not only by their genetic makeup but also by very different reactions to identical experiences.

The difference between humans and animals is not "being a lot more intelligent" -- it is, however, that humans have a dual nature, the physical one, which they have in common with all other living beings, but also a symbolic one. The latter is the driving force for any cultural achievement, including arts and sciences. (One of the best books about this subject is Ernest Becker's The Denial of Death.)

Animals are equipped to survive in their environment, and to reproduce. As far as we know, they are not particularly interested in literature or computers.

Quote:

As far as sexuality goes, animals, unless they are neutered, only follow their instincts.

The commonality of animals (mammals) and humans is that there are two sexes and that they copulate. Almost everything else about mating is different. Animals use scent trails to attract mates, humans are more fixated on visual triggers.

Mating is only the same if you reduce it to the mere act of copulation/penetration. Everything else, from lingerie to oral sex, to kinks, to fetishes, to masturbation, is detached from the instinctual mating of animals. Furthermore, only the human being makes a conscious decision in terms of reproduction and contraception.

Again, each of us is unique. Everyone who has tracked up this thread would certainly confirm that there are fundamental differences between you and me. :)

Yeah that's more or less what I meant, I stated it poorly. Being attractive, people respond more positively to you, it opens doors.

No. Things might be different if I've been married to said woman for 25 years, but I fear that ship has sailed for my generation.

When it comes to sex and relationships, yes I do.

Well I wouldn't say grow brain cells, they just run out of options. Some latch onto beta chumps and secretly resent them. The more intelligent ones sometimes end up like these tragedies:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/artic ... ility.html
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/artic ... rhood.html
Not so long ago, societal pressures would have pushed them along the path to marriage and motherhood.
I'll link the blog I found those two in, I'm sure he'd like the hits. Link here. Might give you an idea of the kind of literature I read hehe. From the comments: "According to a recent study, 48 per cent of university educated women born in the late Sixties and early Seventies are childless." 48% Hello? That's absolutely shocking... and that's the generation BEFORE mine. It's great that men's happiness has risen on the whole since the "patriarchy" was smashed. But the cost is too high!

Quote:

Being of the same species doesn't mean we think the same at all. Women think very very differently to men. I don't know what I can say that's going to change your mind on that.

Ohh yes they do. That's not to say men should be free from similar controls.

Yeah condoms. Great. They add so much to the experience. I posted a thread on the same topic here, you seem to enjoy new information, so you might enjoy the videos there. In a nutshell, as women have so much control of their own fertility, the responsibility should be entirely theirs. The videos imply a great deal of men are forced into fatherhood against their will ("it's fine I'm on the pill"). I tend to agree. The day they invent the male pill is the day births plummet.
Quote:

Not what I meant, I was implying they were happier in a traditional family setting, rather than this corpse of a culture we have now. Not suggesting we kick them out of the workplace, those avenues should still be open, but we need to shoot those moronic feminists who shame stay at home mothers and tell them that family life is horrible servitude. Ugh what a mess.

Quote:
On the other hand, men are obviously happy regardless of their rank. Perhaps someone should ask the women what would really make them happy.

Yeah it's another one of those traits mainly found in only one gender. If the basics are taken care of (food, shelter, sex, a couple of kids if he so wishes) men seem to find contentment whatever. As for women, they don't know what they want. Feminists sold them a bunch of arse - come on, the workplace gives fulfillment? That's just a bald faced lie, most men work because they have to, not because the love their jobs. When I suggest that unless you have something absolutely amazing to contribute to the world of art or science, you'd probably find most happiness in raising kids I get shot down in flames of misogyny accusations.

Ah I don't know how I can convince you otherwise. I see the patterns in humans everywhere, in present day and in records of times past. Try to see the big picture, imagine you are an alien biologist studying our species. Would he throw up his arms and announce that humans cannot be studied, because each and every one of them is sooo unique. I think not. With regards to cultural achievements. Yes, some humans are more capable, more intelligent than others. Deep down though it's exactly the same thing instincts that drive them to achieve.

lilypadfad has some very patriarchal views, some of which I do actually agree with on a certain level. However, I don't think this is just a woman thing, I think that men have a part to play with regards to how we control our dating lives, both the ones getting some and the ones who aren't.

On another note, it looks as if I'm gonna have to make a thread on this "alpha male" concept, as it seems that many people don't really understand the whole idea of an alpha male in human terms. It's gonna be long, so don't expect it too soon .
