Actually, I am on meds for chronic depression so I need to avoid alcohol as much as possible. I make an exception when I'm on vacation though...

Gigi, when you say you can't focus hard enough do you mean that you lose interest before you connect with someone or they tend to drift away from you?

Something that's worked for me in the past (both with friends and potential romantic partners) is just telling people straight off that I don't pick up on subtleties and I don't have any natural social instinct. And that if they want to tell me something or have a problem with me then it's best to address it with me as straightforwardly as possible. Some people don't get this, and if they don't, I don't bother trying to date them. TOTALLY not worth it as the ambiguous stuff just ends up making my mind a jumbled mess and they end up frustrated and hurt. The ones who do, though, make it worth it. Unfortunately they are hard to find sometimes, but they do exist.

I usually have that issue to some extent......but amazingly enough I found talking about it helps. Though if you're connecting with someone who does not really care or want to hear it then not so much. But if your with someone who isen't an jerk then it can help because you can explain why certain things are difficult and try and work on it if you want. Also whoever your with won't think they're making you uncomfortable or that you don't really want to be around them and are faking it...they'll be more understanding about it. But the only thing is there are some jerks so not everyone would respond well to that so it can be easier said then done.
