Can this sort of music creep out a 'classy' girl?

It's like saying everyone likes Michael Jackson. I don't.

Exactly. I think the best you can do for yourself is not worry about it. Your passionate about your music. It means something to you that the girl your with likes it at least enough to put up with it. Some girls do like it, some don't; don't focus on the one's who don't so much.

I have a Master's degee, am told I'm very well spoken, have no dye in my hair tattoos or piercings, not even ears, and I adore the original Nightwish.

Thanks for introducing me to more music in this genre.

Did I once say everybody likes symphonic metal? No.

Did I once say everybody SHOULD like symphonic metal? No.

Did I say I think symphonic metal is a lot more popular than you think it is? Yes.

Did I say being "classy" and liking symphonic metal is not incompatible? Yes.

Did I come across way too strongly due to my personal obsessive love of symphonic metal?

...maybe

Anyway. Assuming everybody's music tastes exactly reflect their clothing style/number of tattoos or piercings/education/way of speaking/background/other interests/whatever else you're picturing in your head when you speak of "classy" is ridiculous. You yourself are an example of this (assuming you believe yourself to be a "classy" person, whatever that is).

With taste in music, people are always variable and unpredictable, I've found.

a : elegant, stylish <a classy clientele>
b : having or reflecting high standards of personal behavior <a classy guy> <a classy gesture>
c : admirably skillful and graceful <a classy outfielder>
— class·i·ness noun

Yes you can be classy and listen to whatever music you like but someone who cares alot about how they appear to others may frown on certain genres just because it won't make them look good. Then you have some who keep it a secret. Then you have those who are classy with their actions and behavior that don't care if others like their choice in music.

Huh... good to know I must not be classy just because I like metal. WT, Epica, and Kamelot in particular.

Thanks for the tip, sunshower. That song is great. :D

Cheers. That song is definitely one of my all time favourites. You'll probably like this too:

Same singer, different band.

Someone's music taste can't make them creepy, imo.

I'd think if you're looking at someone else's definition of 'classy', the fact that you're even into an esoteric enough style of music to ask says you already have a rift in interests and priorities.

BTW, OldFashioned, what I was trying to get at here was that while a lot of NT's still will listen to music and have stuff that they like, they find it strange if a person likes music enough that its on their top 5 priority list. Then again I was suggesting that these are people you're better off staying away from - ie. their biases, their problem.

That would be classed as shallow and stereotypical, not classy.

I get referred as "classy" in real life and I definitely mix in what are frequently defined as classy social events and circles. Symphonic metal is one of my favourite genres of music, if not the very favourite.

Am I the only one that fines irony in the fact OldFashioned doesn't want to be judged based on what kinda of music he listens to but has no problem judging all girls with black hair, tattoos or facial piercings.

I would rather date a girl with all of the above cause 1. I have tattoos and piercings and 2. it tells me they have enough self confidence to not care what other people think or say.

So can men be categorized the same? If that's the case are you better for sex or love/life?

Of course, but it's more a self-categorization based on your lifestyle choices - not something that is imposed on you.

If you choose promiscuity - then you're for sex; if you choose monogamy - then you're for love.

It's up to each person to decide which is better for them...
