I'd rather she just enjoy the 'ride.' Giggity giggity.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Sadly, that is the proper approach. (i.e. You don't know until you try.)
For me, it's a lot to do with intuition. Like, I like secretaries, but I have no idea why.

Secretaries are usually cute.

They are usually cute because oogly male bosses hire them.

There is a tendency among women to describe the guy they think they should want, rather than the guy they actually want.

I understand compatibility can be important but I don't really know what chemistry is. I want someone who will give me a real chance & put forth effort to make it work. I like someone when I think she likes me.

maybe you're mistake is just going for any girl rather than the right one/s
choose girls you like

I do like em thou. I like women after i know them a bit & they seem nice towards me but the problem is they don't like me or they only like me as a friend. Maybe I lack the theory of mind to understand how things like attraction & chemistry work for most others

Well, I suppose that's true, but they always seem interested in me, regardless of how cute.
I'm not sure why, I'd have to think about it.
And I guess I don't just mean secretaries, but girls whose job is to sit alone and perhaps greet people as they come in.
My thought is they are fairly introverted or independent, but also interface with people a lot. Doing both takes strength, I think.

But, this is getting too far off topic, now?

I can tell just by looking at her. If she's the type who's physically attractive, smokes cigarettes, wears a load of make up and has fake died red hair I know she's not my type at all personality wise even though she's the type I'd secretly want to have sex with. It's sad I'm attracted to those types but it's a weakness I must overcome. I also know I don't have a shot with her when the guy she's with is a 6"5 athletic type who's about 10 years older than she is and most likely lives on his own and has a decent income.

Right. It shows what types you have tried in the past but not really what kind would be best for you.

A pattern can sometimes be detected if they were more than a few who all have certain things in common

They were but now it's been made universally illegal.
