my mom met her last boyfriend on Plenty of Fish and no one liked him, her students, having never even met him, claimed he was cheating on her....she later found out they were right lol

her new boyfriend is an old school friend she used to have a crush on in high school, he is the only person my mom ever been with that everyone likes, even my Uncle likes him and my Uncle has NEVER liked ANY of my mom boyfriends/husbands

I don't know how true this is, it could be that the women with exciting lifestyles are more outwardly or they stand out from the crowd more whereas the philosophical women tend to be more reserved and thoughtful, it could be that you are looking in the wrong places.

It's actually very true. I dare you to join Edmonton, AB network on POF and then compare it to Vancouver, BC. The women in Vancouver on POF tend to be more liberal. As opposed to a conservative voting province that holds the Canadian Rodeo. We have Chili Cook offs, Vast farmland, Oil refineries as far as the i can see.

I also have nowhere else to look at the moment. I'm not in any social environments where I'm able to meet women. I know that not every woman in my province is like this, but on POF - they are. A majority of them anyways.

Plenty of Fish? Please no, you can't be that desperate... POF is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Used it before but got rid of it after it proved to be a complete waste of time. Met one person off there who I dated for 6 weeks but she dumped me via text minute as soon as someone else was interested in her.

After that I had no success from there, the majority of women on there from the UK are arrogant, over-defensive & blind to their own double standards with a constant 'I want, I want' style attitude thinking they are entitled to someone who is going to hand everything to them on a plate, preaching on about wanting respect (but clearly not capable of showing any respect back) complaining that their are no decent men out there and constantly having to tell weirdo's to f**k off yet ignore anyone who shows a genuine interest in them (it's not just me that's had this problem I've had friends make the same complaints as well)

Surely if you can take the time to tell the weirdo's to f**k off, then you should at least acknowledge those who are actually making an effort?

Plenty of Hypocrites would be a better name for that website.

That's what everyone on OK Cupid says.

People on PoF probably say vice versa.

OkCupid is infinitely better than POF. They're still both terrible, terrible, terrible. Or maybe it's just the people you meet on there that are terrible. OKCupid at least has a half decent interface, which still doesn't make up for the lack of potential people.

I actually think aspie men would fare far worse on dating sites than real life as women are looking at a 'check list' on dating sites, where as in real life its more by looks and smell and character.

if an aspie lives at home and has no job and cant drive he will do very poorly on dating sites where most women say must have house, car, and high paying job. In real life it would be easier to connect with someone because they fancied you and thereby bypass their values about employment and independence.

i dont think guys should approach strangers though and should concentrate on women in situations of natural introduction such as classes, social clubs/societies and religious groups (even atheists can attend humanists meetings). Yoga, art, environmental and psychology groups/classes are full of women.

and those women with those 'check lists' still wonder why they are single in the first place.

Also you shouldn't assume all AS men are the same. Some of us have tried dating sites because it's very difficult to find a decent woman who isn't already spoken for. I won't go into details here but I've been through a lot due to previous relationships and being used for one nights stands several times over (ironically enough by women who previously complained about being treated badly by men)

In my case finding someone to be with just for the sake of it, isn't that difficult. Finding someone I actually want to be with who is honest, genuine and will respect me as a man actually is.

i was on there and it was not soooooo bad, though i was talking to a much older demographic. OKCupid seemed to have a more intellectual and cultural focus though.

sounds like you need to get to know them better before you sleep with them.

I agree with Raven. It's painful to go through the whole online internet courting (which is time consuming, and you get a lot of let downs and put downs along the way). When you do seem to hit if off with someone, it's not long before you realize you've just been used again as a one or two night stand with no emotional investment on their part; you've just been used for sex. That's enough reason for me not to bother using it again. Without any social outlet or desire to socialize I'll probably just wind up a male spinster, and almost am resigned to that.

It's too easy to say that from an outsiders point of view, some of them were already friends, others claimed to be wanting a relationship only to then go back on their words afterwards. I won't sleep with someone if I didn't think more was going to come from it afterwards unless I know beforehand that it's just going to be a one-off event.

If a guy doesn't want to know a girl after sleeping with them, you'd be calling that guy a user or a player or a scumbag (or some other derogatory comment) yet if it's the other way around you are basically saying it's the guys fault for not getting to know the girl well enough and she is blameless?

Sorry but I'm not buying that.

I know a lot of women who are prone to one night stands, I've never heard of a girl having to pretend to be emotionally invested to get a guy in bed though.

I HAVE known women to be interested in someone and then just cut it off when they find out he's bad in bed. I'm not saying you're bad in bed, I'm just saying I've never met a girl who has a hard time finding sex with no strings attached.

Dude I'm terrible in bed when I'm not into it. I'm in pure ecstacy mode and givin er' when I'm into it though. It's only happened once, for a brief period of time - but gosh was it amazing.
