the first article talks about how NOT showing your face has a positive effect for profile pictures. in short, MXH is correct.

also, you can have people rate which one of your photos is the best pick for you, evaluated according to the demographics of the voters.

-Must show abs if you have them, more skin, no smiling , looking away...

No wonder why my photos were failing me, I am a smiley on pic and look at the camera, no abs and not much skin.

Being yourself is a myth there then.

I rmemebred that when making th other 2 photos. The face only one is looking head on and smiling, the body one is well lit, shows abs and hip lines, no smiling, and looking sslightly away.

Well then, if you aren't showing your face, I suppose nobody would notice if the body picture wasn't you! Heh

I see, I was doing the opposite of what's desired to most according to okc :-/

^^ I've searched your screenshots by using the 'Search by Image' chrome add-on , and found the website you're talking about.

I've uploaded a photo there out of curiosity, and so far the results are so....so ...terrible, my boo avatar could have done a better job

The photo: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp ... 0686_n.jpg (yea, I know, this photo is very wrong according to the okc stats provided by hyper)

If I understood the website right, you would be voted first by members of your area? Then that's not surprising.

38 hours for becoming officially ugly :P

MXH, I dunno If I've told you that before, but you're unnecessarily insecure about your looks - I've been told that they find you hot, not just good-looking or fine-looking, but hot (big difference).

Good I am not that emo or I would have been dead by now ;p

I never had a picture on my dating site. On my facebook, my face-only pics don't get as much appreciation as full body. I'm female and have slightly broad shoulders so maybe that has something to do with it. I look much more slimmer in a full pic.

That being said my "normal" picture didnt make it in, the slider was by the e in are. The other two have been fairing better but now the one based off okc's standards is doing very good. Too good maybe.

ive seen your pics before, you also have no reason to doubt your looks, I will admit thats not the best pic ive seen of you. you look bored and tired in that pic *which i did on my first one*. Aparently thats no good in the looks department.

its not the only thing im unnecessarily insecure about. maybe it was the first 17 years of my life being the ugly kid in school that everyone picked on, it did it in for me. My lack of success with women hast helped that cause much. But yea i keep being told im good looking etc but i just dont feel it.

Well, it's always nice to know the truth ;p.

Now some here might argue that the voters in a such website are more likely to be shallow and looks-driven. But the stats in hyper's post don't show that okc users are any less shallow.

yes, but the point of this thread was to help get people in here to find what picture is best for them. To discuss what makes a picture of someone worth looking at further rather than just passing on.

Women always get the most messages at first, because dating sites have functions that encourage guys to message new people which often resulted in many women feeling bombarded. Then the numbers usually stabilize.

There is no doubt that photos are important.

Id say your profile is truly 70% about the photo and 30% about what is written. So taking good photos is crucial.

Put up at least 6 photos.

Gave a variety. One professional, one lighthearted, one with family, one doing an activity you love, etc.

Show you whole body in at least one of your pcitures. Make sure they are higher quality and not blurry with balanced lighting. They should be becoming but not too far off from reality. They.should show all of your facial features.

Ladies. Don't dress too seductively and don't use deceptive fun house mirror camera angles.

Guys. You look like a tool trying to show off your muscles in a cell phone mirror picture too macho to smile

I wonder about the number of votes.

Anyways, now I know why this pics failed in getting responses on okcupid, they suck. Better to keep them hidden.

Just as an experiment, put some sunglasses on, do a badass pose with your face (think Clint Eastwood or someone like him), and have the picture focused on your face only. I bet you, if you do it right, even with the sunglasses on, you'll get a better score.
