To me, putting on make-up all the time feels like lying. Lying about your skin and for some, your age. I prefer for people to be as they are and if that means they have blemishes, wrinkles, or whatever than so be it. Society's too superficial.

I wish more women felt that way

i find makeup and its effects fascinating - sort of trompe-l'œil. i enjoy seeing men and women with makeup on, for artistic reasons. in terms of beauty i don't think anyone needs it.

a study showed that men are more attracted to photographs of women with heavy makeup on in an instantaneous WOW kind of way, but men spent more time looking at the pictures of women with little or no makeup on. so there is the gut instinctual reaction vs. the lingering gaze. this explains why some men may state that they prefer women with little/no makeup, yet may seem to preferentially look at women with makeup packed on.

sometimes i wear makeup - i've gone years without wearing it and also wore it every day for years, with every variation in between. i tend to wear it so that it is quite noticeable as i think of it as artful face paint. i don't see the point in putting it on my face too minimally, as i enjoy the colours and effects of heavier application. to me, it's always just as noticeable if a person wears it lightly or heavily anyways - there's no secret there, so if i am going to spend the time putting it on anyways it may as well be visible.

:P I can't describe the look I mean unless I mention dark eye make-up, but not loads of it.

Make-up doesn't turn me on. Respect is gained if I see someone's not wearing make-up, especially in the romance scene. If I'm going to be dating someone, I don't want to have expectations of her looking like she does with make up on all the time, because that won't happen. Therefore, I prefer it if I get to know someone first without makeup. If they want to wear makeup, it's their choice, but I do feel slightly different if you do or don't. Plus, kissing and all? I don't want lipstick/blush/mascara or whatever they're all called getting rubbed on me.

If I like someone enough (which I do currently, lucky me), I see all the positives and love the negatives in their appearance all the same. And no make up feels more natural to see/experience, and thus interaction is more natural as well.

My post was probably a bunch of gibberish. :D

I really couldn't care less about it, and I probably hardly notice whether anyone's wearing it. :P

Yes, I suppose it's like I hardly notice what clothes someone is wearing. I've never given people's makeup thought (unless I see a guy wearing it), so I don't know about that.

Rodland, I think women are individuals with varying levels of attractiveness. Some women need makeup more than others. I would go on to say that the mark of a really beautiful woman is one who can look very attractive with little or no makeup.

As far as men go, men don't wear makeup--at least not in my part of Texas. Do European men wear makeup?

(off-topic) I'm guessing you aren't near Austin, TX then... (/off-topic)

I feel like I'm hideous without it. I won't leave the house without eyeliner and mascara at least. >.<

I hate make-up. I feel lied to when someone wears it, and a liar when it covers my own face.

Not to mention, it's not all that attractive in the first place.

I caught a bit of the Survivor show once, where it appeared that the current contestants were sitting on one side and the evicted ones were on the other. The evicted women had returned with their hair and make-up done. I thought the ones still in the game looked much more attractive. Then I saw footage of the evicted ones when they were still in the game, and they looked much better. I just prefer the faces of women without make-up. Especially freckles - why would you cover those up?!

I do wear a bit of foundation though, just to even out the skin tone. It's such a small amount that you can't tell anything is different except the evenness of the tone. If I had nicer skin I'd go without any make-up.

As far as how attractive I find it, I don't much care if a woman wears makeup or not. Makeup/no makeup are about equally attractive to me in different ways. However, I would probably find it a bit iffy if she insists on putting on makeup to go anywhere, including one mile to the grocery store for 5 minutes.

Think of a guy wearing cologne. When he wears a little, he smells nice. When he puts on too much cologne, which many men do, it is not attractive. The same logic applies to women and makeup.

Agreed. Take it easy, ladies. In a casual setting, no makeup is probably ok. But if you show up looking like Flo from Progressive I'm running away.

Actually make up can age the skin, if you look at most female celebrities without make up, you will notice that they aren't as attractive as natural women or women who apply less. Certain ingredients in the make up age the skin faster, here is a photo of a celebrity without make up.

ok post a photo of a 42 year old woman you know who does not wear make up and we will see if she looks younger than the 42 year old J-Lo.

Dont you think the with and without make up photos just show that make up makes people look better.

Most articles Ive read say make up protects the skin from the sun and pollutants so should lesson the effects of aging. As well most celebrities would use high quality organic make up which does not have damaging chemicals in it. Im poor but I still use organic make up so I dont think your argument stands.
