valentines day etiquette

i think it'd be nice to get something cliché and romantic if you've never had that before
the candles on the doorstep might be a bit intense for this situation

nooo! i've only recieved one from a friend who felt bad for me never getting one haha. wasn't gonna say anything because i wasn't sure if maybe everyone else did get oodles of roses every year afterall:/

I'm pretty sure they don't.
In high school, every year people were able to send roses to other kids at school after buying one. I don't think i've ever seen anyone with more than 2 roses from admirers (not just friends who sent them to each other)

It's quite ridiculous really the way men assume women are fawned over.

Perhaps they're equating the way female models/celebrities are fawned over but not taking into account how that applies to male models/celebrities too?

All the people with large groups of friends sent them to each other. Naturally, it wasn't me. :P I had a few friends but to be quite frank, didn't fit in with anyone in school.

I think in this case he seems to think it's normal for your average woman to be bombarded with gifts on valentines day. It simply isn't the case.

I don't think it's romantic. But if someone did surprise me with a random gift the element of surprise would be kind of cool. I wouldn't be interested in celebrating it in a relationship.

I don't really understand what's mean by "romance" at least the way I see it practiced outwardly. Probably part of why I've never gotten anything on Valentine's Day! 8) :lol:
