I'm in the process of drafting a list of things that immediately and significantly decrease the amount of respect I can possibly bring up for a person.
Currently, I seem to have several pages worth of them, and I think it's about ninety per cent of the world's population covered. :?

Well, I just read through a thread on the "Men's Rights Movement" in the PPR forum and I'd have to say guys with misogynistic views are a pretty major turn-off. Even if I do work in an administrative/managerial-type job and have no ambitions to become an engineer in the near future, lol, sweeping and gender-biased generalizations don't do much for me.

Also, coddled and spoiled 'mama's boy' types. I've always had to make it on my own and have found I really need to be with a guy who wants to do the same himself. Otherwise, it causes too much friction.

Heavy drinkers, smokers, guys who do any type of drugs are pretty high on the list for me, too. I just had too many bad experiences with addicts in my family growing up and have too deeply-seeded a fear of history repeating itself.

For me, it would be:

1. Asexual

2. Does not want kids

3. Saving herself until marriage, and unwilling to do any position other than Missionary

4. Does not like to travel, or their lifestyle consists almost exclusively of sitting at home and playing video games (whether they have a job or not)

5. No ambition

6. Puts down anybody who doesn't do or believe everything exactly the way she does (calls them "weak", "unmotivated", "bigoted", etc.)

7. NTs (because I have trouble reading their unwritten social cues, and as a result, don't want to end up with the "restraining order from nowhere")

8. Drugs (marijuana will be an exception, if it is legalized and used only for medical purposes), smoking, and excessive drinking (an occasional beer or wine every now and then is ok).

Put it this way, there's a lot of the right-wing here that I don't identify with either, including many in my own party and even people I've campaigned for.

I think this embodies everything I would find to be an epic turn off.

I think many people on here can make the mistake of having narrow or exaggerated expectations and that can lead them in to constant disappointment because they don't have realistic expectations of how a relationship should be. It's easy to judge, point the finger and write someone off, it's more difficult to truly get to know someone and realize they have individual merits.

I'm not saying people should lower their standards and date someone with completely different lifestyle choices to their own, I'm saying that having your standards set extremely high and being judgmental about everything isn't fair on your partner or potential partner.

Paddy McGuinness or Vernon Kay? I can't remember which one.

Paddy McGuinness

Massively obese people. I have no problem with someone being something like 40lbs overweight or whatever, but it's when you get into 140lbs overweight, there's a line. I just have this switch where I'm thinking I can't believe how you'd let yourself get that far. It actually angers me.

Some of us are quite happy being overweight.

Good for you, it's not for me. Being 10 stone overweight is a serious issue and you're in denial if you think otherwise. I'm not a body fascist by any means, like I said I have no issue with someone being overweight, it's when it gets beyond this into morbidly obese territory then in becomes a serious issue on many levels. People should take care of themselves. It's not realistic to expect society to change its views to be more accomodating. Personally I prefer to get on, rather than be excluded.

I tend to be very uncomfortable around fantasy prone people. I usually end up feeling like I'm talking to someone who REALLY believes in Santa Claus. I recently encountered someone who sounded like they thought they were a comic book super-hero. It reminded me of when I knew a guy who was psychotic and was telling me about all the dead people that he was talking to.

People who are convinced they are right, regardless of the facts.

People who are really sexually aggressive.

Dumbness.
