Missed opportunity, cheer me up!
Thanks everyone who has posted I must admit that I had a smile on my face while reading some of these stories.
When my friends said that I should have had another lunch I am pretty sure they ment that I should have left with her anyway and yes I now realise that I could have went and not had anything, just kept her company but she invited me to lunch so I didn't consider going as I had had lunch.
I would like to give a big hand to the girl in Silvervarg's story for being so persistant and then to Silvervarg for a successful end to the night dispite the misunderstandings.
1000Knives you got her number did you call back?
Scubasteve I am sure you tried to fix that for next time right?

Ages back I was getting on very well with somebody at a friend's house. Our host went off to the pub with all the other people, leaving us alone. I didn't press home the advantage because I thought our host would be offended. Nope. They'd given us some space so we could get on with it. After that, she went and told me that it woulld have been OK that night but not any more
Though she was still friendly with me. I took her at her word and never tried anything again, even though one of my housemates said she definitely wanted me.
Still, I'm glad I missed that particular boat. The guy she ended up with lost her to another bloke because he kept going out a lot and spent a lot of their quiality time working on their house. She had an affair and then left him for the new guy. No decent interval, nothing. It could so easily have been me that she used like that.
I saw so much of myself in the OP's story. Such a classic Aspie goof.

I texted her that night, but no response from her. I didn't call her, though. She was from New York, anyway, her number had an NY area code, so I'd not have been able to like, see her beyond that fair being in town anyway, so yeah. And I don't have Facebook, so I wouldn't even be able to have her as a cool Facebook friend to make silly comments back and forth to, so yeah.
I think she was just looking for a fun night out, ie, a one night stand, hookup sorta deal. Who knows, irrelevant now anyway.
I wish I could be a smooth talker with the ladies, though.
