If I were to talk about what attracts me I'd probably be getting to individualized for a proper answer to my own post but just to throw it out there: I tend to like the girls that seem balanced, on-point, have a knack for taking people for who they are, and you see a glow of intelligence in their eyes. They tend to be middle of the road on laughs vs. seriousness either - I avoid girls who need to laugh 24/7 or have that odd 'run from it' sense that seriousness by necessity is something negative as I like a healthy balance of both and see the beauty of both in the right time and place. Her enjoying 'intelligent' conversation and observations and being willing to share her own thoughts on that level. Aside from that - is strong in herself, knows who she is and who she isn't, and if she's showing a guy the time of day its because a whole sequence of lights went off in her head to where she knows what she has in front of her. The combination of half party half straight-laced is also a rare and great combination; at least in my mid 20's it seemed like most of the girls I met were all-or-nothing in that regard.

Soujahettes? Soulja Girls? Ghetto girls? Who are you referring to?

Not necessarily ghetto, just more on the alpha/virile side.

Watch the movie Descent (the cavers) or watch Mila in Resident Evil 2. That's kinda where I'm going.

I also know girls who can be feminine but also throw down in fights in ways that make most guy's look soft. I guess I'm meaning girls who have both sides - are feminine, are tough as nails. They can be a great catch IMHO so long as they have their life priorities in a row.

It's sort of like ice cream, there are all sorts of flavours to like.

I also find there are things that are very appealing and attractive, but from afar. Difficult to articulate this properly, but ... a very strong appeal, that is unlikely to ever become intent. The aesthetics can be there in spades, but something's just missing.

Oh yeah, totally. Typical is great looking girl - foghorn voice or weird laugh. Or, great looking girl - total simpleton.

*snerk* My last boyfriend introduced me to his best friend while we were at the goth club and I was wearing a pretty sexy dress that I personally liked because of how it showed off my curves. I was told about a month later that as I was walking off to to the bar to get a drink that the friend said, "Mmmmmm....with a bowl of chocolate ice cream." He's still a really good friend and I tease him about it periodically while he makes idle threats to go pick up a gallon.

I sometimes participate in an online philosophy club, and one night back in October the topic was, "What is feminine/masculine?" It started off broad and difficult to define, and pretty much stayed in that state throughout. The next day at work a customer pissed me off when she pulled the, "I'm a helpless woman who doesn't know anything about this industry. I was taken advantage of (when I agreed to have the work done). You know how it is." That made me livid, and I dressed her up one side and down the other. The good thing about that conversation, though, was that it really solidified in my mind an answer to the previous night's discussion topic.

Here's my take on the subject:

I am woman/man. Hear my caring and intelligent roar.

THAT is sexy. BE that. Be the person that harbors a caring roar and isn't afraid to use it when necessary. The world is f****d up, and you have to care enough about it to be strong and to stand up to it. Don't just roar at it because it's f****d up. Roar at it because you care.

If someone wants to balk that you (man or woman) are too masculine or feminine for their tastes, care about them. Care about how sad their lives are that they go around making others miserable, and if you feel the urge, let out your tigress roar at them and maybe it'll knock some sense into them.

Well, I wasn't thinking of that precisely, more like ... really attractive looking woman, really attractive personality, but ... no flaws I can relate to. So I notice and appreciate, but from a distance, because there's nothing there to ... I don't know, interface with (a little too mechanical a term but I can't think of anything better)

I guess in a way that is one of the things I associate with the feminine, vulnerability, but my preference is not in the usual sense of being timid or meek. Can be in an assertive personality too.

Strength/self-control (as apposed to other-directed control)

generosity

humor

(and well-developed personal ethics for anyone)

But I think that chemistry is still important. My best friend thinks that one has to smell the other before knowing compatibility.
