in that he is an actor, usually a hero and sometimes with superpowers. Its teh same as all the einstein/gates/jobs/etc had aspergers talk you hear in the general discussion. Its just a way to feel good over something that theres no evidence let alone proof of.

Some aspie snobs wants to capitalize on einstein to make AS looks cool.

What is an acting chop? I don't think Tom Cruise is a great actor, but I think Johnny Depp is brilliant.

By acting value: Johnny Depp> Brad Pitt > Keanu Reeves > Tom Cruise.

All of the aforementioned actors are good. If you'd placed a generic, attractive, and slightly-muscular-yet-shredded nobody in Fight Club instead of him, it wouldn't have been a good movie.

I think Tom Cruise has given some great performances such as Collateral, Valkyrie, Interview with the vampire and The Last Samurai. He always chooses different roles as well which makes him an interesting actor.

Brad gave some good performances such as Twelve monkeys, Snatch and Fight Club, Johnny was great in Blow, From Hell and Sleepy Hollow and Reeves was also good in the Devil's Advocate.

C'mon, they're all good actors. They didn't pass hollywood just because they're good looking.

I think Johnny Depp's and Brad Pitt's early success was due more to their looks than their ability. Makes me not want to like their work. But, as it happened, they had the talent to justify their popularity.

One thing I've noticed; looking at famous and popular actors, there is a tendency for talent to increase with age. I mean, actors in their forties and fifties and beyond tend to be, on average, better than those in their twenties and younger. This is only partly due to the experience gained over a long career. Mostly, I think, it is because the careers of those with less talent tend to fizzle out before that point. For Pitt and Depp to be more popular than ever twenty or so years after they first came into the public eye, when they're both pushing fifty, shows that that popularity is built on more than just good looks.

Keanu is certainly an odd fellow, it's as if the world happens around him yet he either doesn't notice or care.

I imagine there's worse ways to go through life.

Maybe you guys can tell me something: When I look at some movies, I can see the actors "acting." It's like I can see them getting ready to recite a line, think "insert method acting emotion" then recite their line. It's almost as if I see the technique but not the emotive delivery. Is this an aspie thing? Maybe I'm over-reaching. It's just that some actors just seem non-believable. Maybe it's my own prejudices that there ain't no way in hell a pretty person could possibly be having the life drama they portray on screen. Isn't life drama reserved just for us ugly folks?

I wish there were more parts for older women so we could see actresses develop like this.

Mainly because old males remain sexy for many female fans.

Attractiveness is a major factor after all.

There are plenty. You won't see them in the kind of blockbusters with inappropriate Matrix effects and flashy trailers, though...

There is a significant dearth of opportunity for older female actors, that is just how it is. I don't think it's something worth arguing about the reasons or justification for it whatever. I was just saying I'd like to see more long, dynamic acting careers from women. Meryl Streep's career is amazing. There are older actresses doing some very cool work. I just with there was more, not to be more "equal", purely for the sake of entertainment. Overall, more films not aiming so directly for the 15-35 male market would be nice.

It's hard to find an appropriate role in a modern day action movie for an aging woman. This is probably a very important reason.
