I have died inside but I also feel a lot of resentment.for her inability to support me.
I used to be an outgoing popular person, now I feel like a social leper and people look at e in a different light.
For me life sucks

Many will latch on to any lame excuse to leave, blaming that when it's really something else. She wanted to leave, but it was probably for reasons that sound selfish and lame when said aloud, so AS "sounds better" when she tells the story to whoever will listen to her. :x

I feel for you, Ozman... I've been there and I know the pain. The good news is it lessens with time... but it's been a long time for me and it ain't gone yet. :(

What happened to u? I know I could be in for a world of pain but if I do everything to save marriage I can hold my head high and have no regrets.

ok, let's speak anecdotally: every single divorced woman i know in real life has ended up in worse financial circumstances while every single divorced man i know has ended up in better financial circumstances. it has been pretty cut and dried in my world.

HOW??? How is it possible a man to end up better off? It's just not physically possible that he has to pay child support, alimony and his own home on a single income, yet come out ahead????

I know one way how, and that's if you also factor in his wife spending all his income before the divorce like mine did. Even after my child support payments, I'm financially better off but that's because she's not there like a human leech draining away MY finances while keeping what little she brought in in a secret savings account of her own.

Maybe your female friends are worse off because they have to pay their OWN bills for a change?

"What's yours is mine, what's mine is mine."

Not every divorce works out like yours did.
Alimony goes from higher income to lower income not penis income to vagina income, child support goes to the custodial parent (who is usually but not always the mother, because usually but not always the mother is the primary caregiver)

In the case of a divorce here is what you do:

A: Contact the top 20 divorce lawyers/ law firms in your area/the country and have a meeting with them about your divorce. This prevents your SO from having those lawyers represent him or her, while securing you access to better council.

B: Withdraw as much as you can in cash, and gift to family under the current tax code to prevent your ex getting their grubby hands on it. Then your family hands the money back to you once the divorce is final.

C: Liquidate assets and "salt" down the proceeds in a swiss bank account. Per the Swiss banking regulations they tend to not give out information about account holders, therefore its near impossible for your ex's attorney to figure out your assets for the divorce.

D: Start a Limited Liability company to manage your income, IE instead of you being paid, the LTD gets paid, and then pay you a salary. Keep this salary extremely low. Hire yourself in a position within the LTD and arrange for a leased car and apartment in the name of the LTD, where you live. Only withdraw a salary if you need "spending money" and keep it to minimal amounts.

There are a lot more things that can be done and everyone should sign prenuptial agreements if they are bringing more assets into the marriage. The best bet is never to get married, if you are just living together they have no rights to any of your possessions and if you can prove that you made the payments on houses, cars etc they have no rights to them either. Most importantly, don't let your SO use the children as a tool for blackmail, if they do, record everything and present it in court as evidence of your SO being unfit for a parent, manipulative and so on.

I'm cool with going off-topic if it's some sort of interesting discussion but it's so lame how anytime someone comes to ask for input on a relationship the conversation degrades into some sort of frenzy of anti-feminist raving. It's predictable, it happens any time a thread goes over a page or two. Without exception, as far as I can tell.

PM hyperlexican then, she's the one who started the whole thing by presenting false information.

Yes, every thread goes that way because of Hyperlexian, even the ones she never participated in. It has nothing to do with certain usual suspects being desperate to vent their attitudes about women in every single thread that involves anything to do with couples.

Yes, there are totally not a single poster on this board that works the other way around. If you look at most of that discussion it pertains directly to incorrect statements made by her. Also, just to play devil's advocate, perhaps all these usual suspects having issues may be a hint about something. Further, that perhaps dealing with it in a slightly less vitriolic way would be cathartic for multiple participants.

It's not exactly a profound secret or revelation that they have severe issues with women.

So, if someone has issues with women, most likely stemming from either power issues, control issues or something similar in prior experience. This manifests through a negative view of women as let's say "emasculating b*****s". Is a fruitful communication really going to take place if they interpret the women arguing with them in the same manner and the men arguing against them as enabling the women? Would it not be beneficial to approach it in a more empathic and less confrontational manner, in an attempt to actually help them resolve some of the issues rather than add to them as many of you have done?

All I can say about the current approach utilized by some of you is that it seems to make the "usual suspects" act more in the manner that you disapprove of rather than in a more positive way. Einstein did define insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We keep having these threads with some posters including you and Hyper acting in the exact same manner as before, which only crystallizes the issues these "usual suspects" have and make them go to further extremes every single time, so perhaps review yourself a bit as well.

You mean like ... staying on topic in this thread, and helping this poor fellow out, rather than taking it as an opportunity to get into the usual "point the finger at the other side" nonsense? Sounds good to me.

Oh yes, it's everyone else's fault. That is their whole attitude all the time. Got a problem? Blame somebody else. Heaven forbid they take responsibility for their own problems and attitudes. That just would not do at all.

Perhaps it is foolish to expect that level of adulthood from these individuals. I choose to think not, naieve as that may be.

Thanks for demonstrating a complete and utter lack of understanding for anything I wrote. SMH.

Yeah, I think I'm going to saunter over to the "The Haven" and tell a few suicidal people to grow a pair and deal with it. After all, they need to take responsibility for their own problems and attitudes and stop relying on people in a support forum to help them deal with their problems and attitudes.
