Females: do you consider yourself physically attractive?
Yes, the jacket does count and I don't think there's any correlation between Autism and appearance but I do lack facial expression as you can see in my display photo, I think that can come across as cold or aloof at times.
You look rather tired in your pic.
Sort of like I always do.
No. I feel like a lot of men have astronomically high standards for what constitutes as physically attractive in a female. It's fairly easy to find examples all over the internet of men being extremely critical of women based on their looks, and it's really hard to tell if they're honestly that particular, or if those attitudes just get exacerbated online.
I suspect the sort of men who spend time engaging in that sort of thing are not the sort of men who actually have girlfriends, and I doubt that any of them are physically perfect specimens themselves (and the same goes for the women on the internet who are extremely critical of other women and their appearance.) Have you heard the fable of the fox and the grapes? There is a fox trying to reach some grapes and he tries and tries but cannot reach them. In the end he walks away and says 'I bet they were sour anyway'. Because he can't have them, he convinces himself they were not worth having. I think some of those men are very much like the fox.
I don't think what you read on the internet is necessarily representative of the human race, at least I hope to God it isn't!

I expend an average amount of effort-- good hygiene and small amounts of makeup, etc.-- and I think I'm average-looking, so I guess that works out
Won't win any prizes, but no one will probably run screaming either.

I've always very much been the Tom Boy, and have never really gone out of my way to make any great effort to look more attractive on the outside because I was never one to need others approval in that regard.
I've always been told I am attractive but to me it was always a superficial comment and I never felt like that on the inside.
But strangely, finding out that I had AS started the change in my perception of myself and now I put a great deal of effort into 'feeling' better about myself and I've been looking after myself from the inside out health wise. The side effects are cumulative and my confidence and 'attractiveness' is far better now that in my eyes I look great to me for he first time in my life. I feel attractive, and I know that may sound arrogant but it's the truth because there are too many people out there that who lie about the fact when they know dam well they are very attractive yet play it down either because inside they have issues about their own image like I did or they are liars and want the attention their denial creates.
I'm attractive!
There.
Girls keep talking about how they can make themselves prettier with makeup and clothes. I don't think that's possible. I'm attracted to the physical shape of a woman and what colors she puts on her face really doesn't matter, unless she has some weird color like giant bags under her yes or green eyelids, which I find unattractive. Probably an exception to this would be if she had cool body art. And since it's the shape of the body that is attractive I can't see how clothes can complement it. Generally I think the fewer clothes the better, but I don't like it when girls squeeze into outfits that are too small because that makes the fat bulge in odd places, and I also do not like it if she seems uncomfortable in her skimpy clothes. I would rather have a comfortable and friendly girl in jeans and a T-shirt than one that acted nervous or was trying too hard in a hooter's outfit.
I think in some respects all men share my view, so I'm not sure how it is that girls came to worry so much about how they look because it is a useless thing to do. Maybe it's not useless for other men. Or maybe they do it just because they know that their looks are important to men and it makes them feel better to trick themselves into thinking that they can do something about it.
I think it depends what you like. I've had people think I'm hot but also people who think I'm ugly. There's really no rhyme or reason.
The same is true in my own preferences. I can be physically attracted to someone while not particularly liking them or be heartpoundingly infatuated with someone without any kind of physical attraction. It's weird.

Uh, hell yeah it's totally possible. I can completely change the shape of someone's face with make-up so playing up the eyes, shaping the nose, highlighting the cheekbones and defining the lips (all things that can be done without "noticeable make-up) is a breeze. And flattering clothing is all about proportions and balance and complementing your physique (not that "flattering is always the goal). ex.a good jean makes your but look great, a long pant with a heel elongates the leg and forces your body into more of an s curve shape,a good bra can make your boobs go wow, and an open neckline can slim the look of your entire body.
It kinda like advertising in that everybody thinks they're above it and it won't work on them, except it totally does.
eh, when I wear well tailored put together outfits and well applied make-up I look more polished and professional. Also people tend to treat me better when I do those things.
frankly I think you may have a limited understanding of fashion and make-up and how they work
everyone cultivates a personal style, even comfy girls in jeans, most every day make-up is about subtle enhancement and looking less tired
Clothes and make-up are also about self expression. I feel "most comfortable" when I'm in a look I like and am confident in, the attitude adjustment alone of looking like myself improves my interactions with other people.
Sometimes we do things to please us, I like having green eye-lids sometimes, it's fun.
For as much as people like to say girls "try to hard", I think some guys could really stand to try harder.
And as many men I've known have expressed the exact opposite I don't think you've got your entire gender with you on this, possibly many, but surely not all.
(also hooters, really, no girl not working for a disgusting restaurant wears beige pantyhose, socks, and sneakers to look hot)

THIS. I've dated guys who hated it when I wore make-up, and wanted me to go bare-faced all the time, but if I go into the mall for example, I get treated very poorly if I don't look well composed. Make-up isn't just for me, or to attract men. It's to be treated respectfully at work, receive good service at stores and restaurants, etc etc etc. Whether or not you think society should be that way is a totally different topic, but unfortunately, if I want to buy a nice pair of shoes, I'm going to have to do my hair and make-up to even get service.

You're right, I don't understand fashion. All I know is that I don't like it.

That is very unfair. I never have to do anything but bathe and put some clothes on to go outside. Sometimes I don't even bother to bathe or get dressed properly (maybe skipping underwear and socks, or shoes for short distances) and I still get treated just the same.
I have been called pretty before, especially by other women and mostly they tell me I have nice skin. But I'm too skinny and I can't seem to gain any fat or muscle, especially fat. Guys have constantly told me that I need to gain weight and I'm self-conscious of it.
I agree with you and it's so annoying. I saw men I know in real life calling a celebrity woman's boobs sagging once on facebook about her nude-ish photo when they were not even sagging. That's what normal breasts look like!! ! I would have butted in and said that but another woman got there first. Btw, you look really pretty to me.
I also agree with what people have said about dressing or makeup. I get treated better when I dress more femininely too. I never wear much makeup (I don't know how) but I get treated better if I have a little on my eyes or something.
edit: Don't get me wrong, I don't hate men for this. I blame the media and modern culture, where sex and fakeness is staring everyone in the face left, right and centre...

LOL, what? You wear make up to attract attention. There's a reason why people treat you better. You look more attractive with make-up on. You know this and that's why you do it. You're taking advantage of the feminine role in society.
