So no one is confused, this thread is an old one that's been resurrected by others. It's not a reflection to my recent post about OKCupid. My account there is still active.

Sorry to be mean brian but can I point out something?

You have had friends of you irl trying to help you and you didnt like their advice.

When you didnt like their advice everyone here told you that it was going to work better than now, you ignored everyone.

Just yesterday I did the same thing. A friend came over and he saw a picture of" my younger brother"(me three years ago, Ive made a point to make significant changes that dont improve my attractiveness level) when I cleared things he asked why I didnt go back to what I used to do(not stupid enough to make a lifelong change...) my reply was that I feel more comfortable like this and I have someone that likes me just as I am.

When you can say that, you can ignore the advice everyone is telling you to follow because youll be happy with what you have, until then I encourage you to try to give everything a chance

This was surprising:

I told usually tell a girl what beautiful eyes she has, as cliche as that is, I ACTUALLY GOT ONE RESPONSE EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A DATE. nothing special though, I think I came off as creepy during the day, but whatever it was fun to go somewhere with someone that day. (don't get to do it as much) (I was even a nice guy on there)

but from my experience, most girls on okcupid from my experience have terribly unreasonable standards, and if you think about it, guys message them 90% more than girls would ever message a guy, and even more cynical, most girls think all the guys on there just want to have sex, so they turn down almost every guy without even reasoning "this guy isn't so bad, I don't even know him, but he does seem attractive, maybe I should message them back", but of course their not like that. Trust me, because of these unattainable standards, women (and men) have to suffer from loneliness. It's not you, it's society. Animals only need subconscious communication skills to mate where humans, need to learn how to talk, pick up social cues, and sometimes sadly "game"..., and it's getting worse and worse with technology being around.

It sucks, and I can't necessarily say it gets better, but embrace the pain. Society is falling apart, or at least it seems that way.

Hate sounding negative, but that's just the way I see the world. Take everything with a grain of salt though.

Necro bump. 8O

Odd how this one got bumped and not one of the dozens of completely identical threads the OP has made since. I assumed this was new at first. Some things never change.

That happens kind of a lot now with the new site layout and its similar-threads feature. It's strange and annoying to see posts I've made in threads that are like 5-7 years old suddenly near the top of the boards. :?

Third time. Each time with diminishing returns.

God I'm so sick of being alone, yet I know more than ever I'll never find someone. I mean, I've never had a girlfriend, and I'm 28. If that doesn't say I'm a failure at this, I don't know what.

The other day I visited with my neighbors. A married couple, about my age. Beautiful people. The wife...how i wish I could find someone like her...intelligent, creative, driven, and beautiful. Of course she deserves the man she is with. He is everything I'm not.

I watched how they intereracted, how they held hands, and touched eachother in a way that was both casual and deeply emotionally connected.

this is completely alien to me. I've never known anyone who expressed such feelings for me.

There were many I felt deeply for. One that I almost made it happen with, but I ruined it. I think she was my chance, and I blew it.

Now I've gotta just forget about women, forget about this drug called love. There is no hope that I'll matter to anyone as a person. None.

I'll only matter by what I do, and what I have to give to others. I'll do something really special and beautiful for the world. So when I die, there will be something to show I mattered...if not to any one individual, then at least through the good works I did.

And yet, I could weep. I have dreams where I sob uncontrollably. Others where I meet an abstract woman, who looks at me with complete acceptance for who I am. Sometimes she kisses me. Other times, she simply holds my hand.

Those dreams make me wish I would never wake up.

As I've said before: A winner never quits and a quitter never wins..so don't give up.

I recommend that you create a new Okcupid account and talk to a person who calls herself the Heartographer for profile content and picture advice. But more importantly, don't put all you eggs in the Okcupid basket! Where do you live BTW? It might very well be that the right people aren't in your area. Try using the "located anywhere" setting next time. And also, you need to branch out and create profiles on multiple dating sites not just Okcupid.
