Maybe, but there comes a point in time where you've just gotta toughen up and get it dealt with. IMO the toughest people out there are the ones who'll straight up face a fear down like that - whereas some people would just throw themselves at situations blindly and have 3 or 4 failures because it was their ignorance or lack of awareness that gave them the confidence these other types of people can bring themselves to do the exact same things and will continue to throw themselves at it even with full self awareness and full respect to everything that could possibly go wrong. Don't know if I'm that strong yet but I think I should work on getting there just because, anything thats even kind of in my control or could have been if I'd started practicing self control over it years earlier I have a very hard time not taking full personal responsibility of - that's just me and that's how my emotions tend to work on those sorts of things.

It is the string of half functional(and dont think of them as dysfuntional) relationships that a person encounters that allows one to build maturity based on knowledge. It is a rare example of where you MUST fail in order to succeed. Patience and thoughtfulness are the only tools you need. (and be well groomed).

Rejoice in the little starts, and dont dwell on the endings. Take pride in the effort to get going, and do not lament that the pace is too slow.
