I really don't like it, it seems fake to me. The "big gesture" thing annoys me. Things that are done to be romantic are by definition intentional and designed. The real moments mean so much more to me; I appreciate my boyfriend making me tea and soup when I'm sick or keeping the labels of things in the cupboard facing outwards because it annoys me when they're not even though he doesn't care a million times as much as I would some kind of orchestrated plan to seem romantic to me. The things that are real are the things that build relationships.

The best thing that "romance" offers can be readily rented by the hour. Actually caring about it has led many men to their doom.

I'm sceptical of my own abilities to maintain it once its there.

My view was positive. But now I'm a 30 y.o kiss less, hand-holdless virgin, and my view is a bit more cynical. I would still like someone special, but I can't see it happening.

and it's much worse if a guy has a negative attitude much worse than a girl, what i hate more is that girls are so damn extremely intuitive, they are able to pick up on sublte vibes so easily

It's very difficult to be positive when I've never been able to experience it myself. I just can't catch any breaks.

and it's far more important for men to have things going for them in their lives than it is for women

I agree. Men have been known to commit suicide because they can't get a partner. Women seem to be able to deal with being single a lot better.

I am all of the above. Mixed feelings a/b love. Yet not indifferent. I would say I have a wishful thinking over this matter.

I had to look up romance, as it's another one of those words I don't understand.

It said this:
noun
1 a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love: in search of romance.
• love, esp. when sentimental or idealized: he asked her for a date and romance blossomed

wtf? I still can't define love, so how is this helpful? Too broad a subject for me to comprehend. I can conclude I am hopeless with this post.
