In my own opinion and experience? Men know quickly if they have any interest in a person romantically.

If it has been a year and all he has are excuses, I would personally move on, yes. (It sounds like) Either he is not ready for a relationship or does not want that type of relationship with you.

Yeah, I do see a difference in how he is to me the less I pay attention to him. He hates it. Earlier this week, I didn't initiate the texting, etc. between us, but instead he did. I did this because I was sensing the stronger my presence was, he withdrew from me. It was exactly as I suspected; he texted me first every time.

I don't think he likes me, but maybe the attention I give him, in a sick sort of way. Once it's gone, he can't handle it, but when it's there, he takes advantage of me. The other day, he gave me a little back rub and said he was doing it because I have been nice to him. I don't know, but it seems like I need to watch my every move in order for him to show his appreciation me being in his life. Maybe I'm distorted in thinking that, I don't know. I just feel like I'm going crazy because of it all.

Robert Greene's The Art of Seduction has an interesting section on the Coquette or how being withholding actually attracts the other person. This guy sounds like a textbook example of how it works. I personally wouldn't enjoy a relationship where I had to take the hot/cold approach to keep it afloat, it sounds more like emotional S&M than enjoyment of eachother's company.

I think you'd feel a lot better (and more in control) if you considered him a friend or aquaintance instead of a BF or future husband. Not to say you can't be nice and still talk to him (given his past, it's nice to know that people care), but if his behavior makes you uncomfortable there's no reason you should stay around and endure it.

The thing is men who believe the bible are supposed to take the flak for women, not complain about something that happened at the Dawn of Humanity. If anything, Adam should have said "She made a mistake God, but I should have been there for her. Please punish me instead...", or something like that. Females are not to blame for anything.

Just more "women need guidance and assistance from (men), and have to have others to take their punishment."

The idea behind it is selflessness and self-sacrifice on behalf of your lady, whether or not you interpret it this way is your choice, it is what it is. The situation I described has almost no guidance in it, so I find it impossible to interpret self-sacrifice as guidance, as the two are completely different. Most women, if in God's garden and elsewhere, would prefer to be saved instead of being smited by God. Note this did not happen in real life, as the Genesis story shows Adam with as much if not more blame than eve, so why the offense? I take it you do not like men sacrificing their entire being to save you from being smited by God? In all honestly, I wouldn't mind it if women did the same for me.

! Why would I want to believe in a God that wanted to smite me in the first place? Geeze, I already grew up in a household with plenty of smiting, why would I want to worship some God that feels the same?

(hint: I said MYTH from Genesis, remember?)

I never said God wanted to smite you. He wanted to smite people who lied to his face, and had been talking with his mortal enemy, Satan. Imagine the US finds out Obama is a terrorist, pedo, murders cats, eats horses, and makes petrified blood statues, get here I am going with this? The US would most likely 'smite' him if you will. God didn't smite us, he wanted to, but he didn't. Right now, he just wants you to believe, and maybe go to church, and believe John 3:16 of the new testament, and be a generally good hearted person. He won't smite you, in fact it is very hard for God to smite someone for doing something terrible before other people do it for him anyways. On that rule of thumb, if you are a good person, and believe John 3:16 of the new testament, you are saved. Please don't tell me you took a made up story that isn't in the bible that seriously? I mean he loves you, even if you hate him.

hey, hey, HEY! Where did you read that I "hated God?" Back off, that is offensive to me and probably offensive to your God, too. I am not into "hating" anything let alone someone's interpretation of God. Proselytizing is what I don't care for. I hope you have a wonderful relationship with your deity and let me follow my own spiritual path.

Except our own actions, of course.
