I HATE pet names. They are weird and make no sense. Especially when I barely know the guy who is saying them.
I have recently re-joined the hoards of people on online dating and am talking to 3 guys right now. The most promising of which unfortunately lives on the other side of the state (and for Texas that is a long distance). But one of the guys I am talking to and most of the guys who send out "Hey" messages call me babe, or sugar, or honey-pie.
I DO NOT LIKE!! !! !
Why do people feel like they should be used? I respond to my name, not some contrived word that is not associated with me.
I agree. Its irritating. I include 'dude' among the list.
I do like nicknames though.
@ Dantac: I agree with you. My mom sometimes calls both me and my sister by pet names, even though we tell her to not do so anymore. Whenever this happens, my sister says, "Uh Mom...I'm not a little kid anymore, so stop calling me stuff like that."
I don't mind when people call me "Dude", but I hate it when old people call me "Kid."
I'll admit this. Because my sister is a tomboy, I call her "Sir."
Because my mom tends to be overbearing towards both me and my sister, we both call our mother "Master."
