Speaking in terms of relationships. Years ago I probably would have said love is more important. But as I get older I realize how much money or the lack thereof can truly strain a relationship especially if it's the man that doesn't have the money. If he doesn't have money chances are the woman, no matter how much she loves him, and no matter how much he could have supported her in the past, will get too frustrated and burdened and she will leave. Not to mention all the pressure from friends, family, co-workers, society in general, that would be compounded on her and influence her to leave as well.
So yeah, I very much think that lasting love in the real world is highly dependent on money and security.
Love is all great and warm and fuzzy when things are going good. Not so much when they aren't.
I've seen a lot of broken old men that the world left behind for this reason.
