28. You didn't send her a rude non-sexual related message that managed to get around her ego. (i.e. making fun of something in her profile)

First of all, I'm slightly annoyed because I don't like it when people insult my intelligence.
Frankly I've encountered quite a few losers who had lost all hope in life. Most of them were lawyers.

If you have such a staunch belief in the idea that you'll never meet a woman, you never will.
Women like confidence.

I said nothing that was naive. On one of end of the spectrum are people so optimistic they aren't realistic. On the other end of the spectrum are people so pessimistic that they aren't realistic, either.

I'm not going to hang around on this forum anymore. I don't want to argue with negative people.
And many of you are very negative.

31. She wasn't your intended soulmate. :) (i.e. it wasn't meant to be).

OP, don't worry about people calling you naïve. A lot of people here are rather bitter and cynical.

Lawyers probably don't like it when you insult them, either.

I don't really know what "insulting one's intelligence" means so I'm not sure if I did that or not. What I DID do was firstly pull you up on something you said which I found inconsistent, giving you an opportunity to clarify if you should wish to. Then I gave my personal opinion about your post in general (I talked about what I feel when I mentioned the "negative" side, not that I "know I am right" or anything like that), which you are also welcome to respond to...that's what a discussion forum is for.

Okay so you are doing it again. But this isn't naive optimism, it's naive pessimism, in a way. Do you really believe that EVERY person who believed they would never meet a woman never met a woman? Personally I've heard plenty of stories of people meeting their "true love" right after they'd given up all hope.

Please don't interpret that as me saying that I think giving up is a good idea. I'm just pointing out that your views are rather black and white and don't leave any room to move.

It is my view that to believe that if you simply "don't give up" then you WILL get what you want, is being naively optimistic. Sure, many people will probably get what they want. Others will be repeating the same mistakes over and over and may never achieve their desired result.

Okay, so one person challenged your post and now you will give up. Were you hoping that you could write your first post on a forum full of independent thinkers and have everyone rejoice and thank you without any criticism? As far as I can see, I was the only person who challenged your ideas. Plenty of people have been very positive. You could have responded in any of these ways:

- Ignore the bad response and don't give up on getting a good response. After all, it doesn't mean you are ugly or unattractive. Keep posting.
- Consider the bad response. Maybe there was something you could learn from it to enable you to get a better response next time. Keep posting.
- Give up and quit the forum altogether, just like a loser lawyer would. Also maybe attempt to insult a bunch of forum members who never had anything to do with you, on your way out, just for good measure.

Which one of those sounds most like following your own advice (albeit in a different context)?

41. They made their account SPECIFICALLY to torment YOU. It is PERSONAL. They made it a flawless and a perfect 100% match just to make it impossible for you to resist messaging and subsequently getting ignored. They can read your mind through your computer screen. They telepathically sense your pain and derive great pleasure from it. They have a voodoo doll with your name on it that they stab through the heart as they chuckle to themselves.

Disclaimer: This is a joke. Not trying to be mean. Rejection sucks. I'd just try and congratulate yourself on having the courage to message someone. Dwelling on reasons people don't respond just makes it harder. Just message someone and then try to forget they exist. Don't torment yourself waiting for a reply. Then if you eventually get a reply it will be a pleasant surprise.

I tried online dating briefly...

I am lucky in that I am fairly attractive, tall, symetric, broad shoulders, masculine features.

I started out contacting a few girls "Hey, you seem cool, want to hang out?" with no response....

Then I would put a bit more effort into it.. "Hi, you seem cool. We share a lot of the same interests. I saw Neko Case a couple of years ago, and she blew me away. Such a voice! That camping trip you went on looks like a blast! I spend a lot of time in the woods myself, etc, etc.
Hope to hear from you"
Put at least a half hour into it.

I think there are a lot of men who msg any and all girls that they are remotely attracted to "sup?", in an effort to get some play. Most girls want someone who is interested in them SPECIFICALLY, not just as piece of ass.

Is this some joke I'm not getting? It was Sherlock Holmes, I'm pretty sure. (A silly quote, when you think about it, but that's neither here nor there.)

And...? You never said what the outcome was, so it's hard to tell where you were going with your whole post.

Beautiful!

To be fair, the same approach would only apply if ccook70's desire to post on this forum was as great as his desire to find a woman. It may well be far less important to him.

Anyway, I wouldn't normally be telling someone to leave, but in all honesty, ccook70, your post really doesn't fit in here. So if you're unable or unwilling to change the way you interact with other forum members then leaving might indeed be your best option.

This is what makes it so funny how they often DO reply to defend themselves if you're rude in a non-sexual context. I've personally never used websites like that much though except for a few weeks around this time last year out of curiosity.

For example, on OKcupid there's a profile option to claim that you've never done drugs in your entire life. That's a good thing to call BS on.
