Love is a verb. It means doing what is in the best interest of the person.
A synonym of love would be nurturing.

Love is not an emotion.

That's what I think romantic love is. That is what I see in good marriages. That is what I feel when I am in love. Love also energizes the person who is in love, motivates that person to be a better person.
