The frugality could be from lack of money due to not having a job.

Obsessive interests are a trait of AS, however; he could just be fixated on the past. If he did have a job and a muscular body 5 years ago, maybe he felt worth more then, and he finds it hard to let go of that time.
Getting angry at you for not wanting to listen to the same stories over and over is a character flaw. Character flaws are not indicative of either having or not having AS.
Difficulty with noise and needing to spend a lot of time alone are AS traits, but they can also be explained by introversion.
The self-studying could be an AS trait or it could be personality.

Refusing to allow you to see your friend is a douchebag move and a red flag for potential future abuse.

Refusing to meet your friends could be an AS trait, or it could be a selfish jerk trait.

agree with everything. Just cuz he's an ass doesn't mean he's an aspie. Most aspies I've met are the nicest people you'll ever meet.

If an aspie is an ass it's usually because he doesn't realize it. These are things an aspie would likely notice they are doing. The real question is "is he worth this effort"? If you want you can try to get him diagnosed many aspies don't know until later in life and develop poorly in certain areas. I wouldn't hold out hope myself.

Waiting until he's recovered would be the kind thing to do. But yeah, it sounds like leaving him might be the right thing. As far as whether he has autism or not; does it matter? Ether he's an NT who's kind of a dick, or he's an autist who's kind of a dick. Either way, the solution is the same.

Don't leave him.

I don't want WP to get the blame for your after breakup depression.

Stay with him until you are really convinced otherwise.

Thank you all for your replies so far, they've been really insightful. It's terrible to say but since he's been at the hospital I've been able to breathe a sigh of relief and live my life. Thinking about him returning makes me feel anxious and ill (not to say that being alone doesn't make me feel anxious..... but to be scared of someone is worse). If anyone has anything else to add, please feel free.

it seems like you already know. If you are ill of him what's the point of a relationship? You are suppose to be happy. Don't dump him cuz of us saying you probably should. Do what you feel is the right thing to do.
