Going by all you've said about him in the past, it seems out of character for him to respond in the way you think he did. Maybe you've misinterpreted his tone.

I'd like to think you're right, but the feeling I'm getting is that I'm nothing more than a pest to him.

A lucrative pest, but a pest none the less.

I know thread derailment is the norm around here, but can this thread just be for me please? I feel so sad right now :(

Sounded to me more like "no s**t! What a coincidence!".

@Kezzstar, another life lesson for you. You know you will feel better later. You just need some detoxing from this saga. You know you will find someone else to inspire, but this time, you will check up earlier if the guy is interested in you, right?

He was only ever nice to me because I paid him to be.

My experience throughout my life (check my age) has been that this is the case. This is so whether the other person is my doctor, therapist, CPA, attorney, masseur, personal trainer, model, barber, music teacher, waiter, maid, mechanic, plumber, or employee.

I once developed a crush on an employee. What a freaking mess that was.

I am not cynical about it; I rather expect that when I am paying someone they treat me nicely. But I find I must keep my social neediness in check when in these situations, otherwise I will develop an emotional interest that ultimately works against me in some way.

I can not count how many times I have been around that block.

I think I'll just avoid romance full stop for a while and concentrate on my Plan B (because I always have a Plan B). Save up enough money to buy a large block of land, and build a house where people with mental illness can come and be safe. Probably will need to get a psychology degree as well but it's something to do.

oh, wow me and a very good friend were just talking about doing something very similar! Working out the logistics n stuff for an aspie/mental health retreat.
sorry you are feeling so sucky. I say things like BS or no way when I am surprised by a coincidence, I hope he is the same and you have just misinterpreted his tone. good luck.

I hope everyone is right in that I just misinterpreted. I guess I'll find out as there's no way I'm ditching my footy club for him, and if he "misses" me annoying him after training he'll probably come and find me (my friends and I sit next to the clubhouse/player race at training when we go, so I'm hard to miss).

Plan B for me was to buy a car. Executed it perfectly on Valentines day and she is treating me very good. What a beauty :P

Well, looks like I was wrong.

We had a praccy match today...after the game (a loss) he came and found me and said hi.

I feel bad for snubbing him at training a few weeks ago now

I was wondering how you were getting on! Well maybe he also felt bad for his reaction too, but I really hope he came to find you because he likes you and not just because he may be feeling guilty.

Sorry if this sounds like not much of a pep talk, but you were so crushed the last time, maybe this time around hedge your bets a bit?

Much finger crossing for you that it works out!

Definitely wasn't guilt, he'd have apologized 10 times if that was the case. That's his way I guess. I got a photo with him at the same time and according to Mum we look like friends.
