Do some of you ACTUALLY think that your interpretation of the word nerd is the correct one?!

This is from wikipedia

Nerd (adjective: nerdy) is a descriptive term, often used pejoratively, indicating that a person is overly intellectual, obsessive, or socially impaired. They may spend inordinate amounts of time on unpopular, obscure, or non-mainstream activities, which are generally either highly technical or relating to topics of fiction or fantasy, to the exclusion of more mainstream activities.[1][2][3] Additionally, many nerds are described as being shy, quirky, and unattractive,[4] and may have difficulty participating in, or even following, sports. Though originally deragatory, "Nerd" is a stereotypical term, but as with other pejoratives, it has been reclaimed and redefined by some as a term of pride and group identity.

^ I think that "nerd" is one of those words that means different things to different people.

Wikipedia is not a dictionary. It can be edited by anyone, and is not 100% reliable.

The following three dictionaries all have slightly different definitions for nerd:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/nerd

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/nerd

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/defin ... glish/nerd

I still don't really know what nerd is actually meant to mean. I posted that Venn diagram because I think it's funny, but I think perhaps it isn't meant to be a joke. Maybe it is serious. I don't know. I find it hard to tell when things are meant to be taken literally, and when they are jokes.

Once I was clarifying something to a girl I was chatting with online, who for some reason assumed I am a player and not nerd (basically because I showed a pic without glasses):
"I am not what you're thinking, I am nerdy in real life".
Her: "But you sound good in bed, right?".

*facepalm*

Starkid,
it sounds like you've figured out a way to view my dating profiles from last year. Either you invented a time machine or you have an eidetic memory.
