OKC is kinda weird now. Like, I have seen a lot of vegetarians and bisexuals on there Lol
Not that its a bad thing. But I have not seen that many on any other dating sites. It seems like OKC is for people that are very different.

I've had the opposite impression, in that a lot of the more recently joined members seem to be your average Joe or Jo who you might see on those other free sites. I've always liked that OkC has had the more original thinkers on it, but lately I've seen too many generic profiles.

Reminds me of this article:
http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2014/ ... k-okcupid/

In actuality, it's not overly impressive and it doesn't surprise me it took over 100 first dates for him to find someone. If you're using math to filter through people and not thier actual words in the profile you'll miss out on a lot and waste a lot of time, effort and money. If you think you need a "hack" to figure out OKC or any other dating site, you are overthinking it to the extreme and not actually doing yourself any favors.

I learned this first hand. The awesome girl I met on OKC (whom I'm now living with, btw 8) ) only answered 2 or 3 questions. She put up one photo and had a very accurate (but brief) description of herself. I initially overlooked her (based on similiar leaps of logic as these "hacker" types.) If it weren't for her seeing that I visited and messaging me first, nothing would have happened.

How did you know that she was compatible? Were you just lucky? The purpose of the questions is to filter out people who you don't have much in common with. Yes, I do look at people's profiles as well but in my experience, the profile doesn't always tell you much. I often find profiles that are very minimalistic and don't give you much information at all, I can usually only make judgements about the person from their profile if it's a detailed one. On the other hand, if they've filled in a lot of questions, their answers can tell you a lot more about them than their profile can because some of the questions are even ones which you normally can't ask on a first date. If someone scores a high match with me on OKCupid, I usually browse through their questions in order to see how they answered as well as reading their profile. I'm not saying that someone who hasn't answered many questions won't be compatible with me, it's just that I often don't know enough about them from their profile alone to make that judgement.

Even though my OKCupid relationship was a monumental failure, I did last 18 months and had plenty of good times. Her profile was absolutely dreadful and on the surface we had nothing in common and I would have never noticed her in a million years if she didn't message me. Theres this girl who seems perfect (95% match) but literally gives me nothing in her profile for me to talk about though.

Exactly. Match percentages and questions only help and should be treated as supplementary, not the basis for your search.

Also, 18 months is not a monumental failure in the slightest. That would only be the case if you didn't learn anything from the relationship. I bet you have a better idea of what to look for and how to approach a relationship now, right?
