You're right and it's fascinating how many people are dominated by perception, which often proves to be much stronger than reason or emotion. Associating certain physical traits with certain psychological characteristics, values or behaviours is a very good example and it often leads to absurd, frustrating or even hilarious situations.

Dafuq??! !! You met your perfect woman in your excuse for not going after her is that she moved one hour away? Get off your ass and go get her!

Well, its not like we were dating or anything. I have no idea where exactly she is and how to find her and am not 100% sure of her last name. She probably doesn't remember me anyway but if I am in her town and see her I will certainly approach her and say hi. Its probably closer to 125km after looking at a map. Not exactly close!

Plus, and you can smack me if you want, my ex was just over 30 minutes away and the fuel costs were starting to eat me alive. Gas prices are sky high where I live.

Porto Allegre? Belo Horizonte?

Just Aspie-curious. Brazil's a beautiful country. I want to see Salvador some day.

Oh, you are so nice! :D
I love my country so much. There is a great variation, its is truly the greatest melting pot on Earth. Most common religions are christianity, african religions and kardecism, but honestly even the christians believe some other stuff like the influence of the moon, are afraid of voodoo or make offerings for the brazilian goddess of the sea, Iemanjá. Most of the population is all mixed up ethnically (86% of the "whites" also have black blood ie. famous "exotic whites") and our culture is very unique. I mean, we are not multicultural like the US, we are a melting pot! There is a great difference.
And besides the demographic and cultural uniqueness the nature is incredibly beautiful! Check out those unbelievable places:

I once read a travel story about someone walking from Recife to Salvador, exploring many beaches. I'd like to do that some day.

How is Autism awareness in Brazil? Probably not so great. You might be a pioneer in it.

The first picture is in the Amazon, the second in the Pantanal?

yeeeessssssss :D Exactly that! This is part of my special interest 8)
check it out, it gets even more interesting: the physical appearance influenciates in the behavior and psychological condition in the sense that the expectation people put on this particular physical appearance reflects in how the person sees themself. If you look on fashion sites for instance or look around you, you will see that women that have large shoulders and have inverted triangle body type usually wears sportist style, and women with round faces and big eyes usually uses romantic style! So you can see some correlations physical appearance-personality. Imagine for instance a girl is born with a round pretty face and big eyes, then the expectation is for her to be cutie, shy, romantic type and she ends up behaving like that! Just like the stereotype of blondies as fashion queens etc is a self-fulfilling prophecy that contributes to appearing girls like that in real life. Just like if you are prettty already you may not develop your intelligence or grades because you already call attention and don't need it!

if everything works out fine this is the trip my family is going to do this year, by car! Many days of travel by the coast. awesome.
First pic is Lençois Maranhenses, in Maranhão (north), second one is Cataratas do Iguaçu, in the South.
hahahaha I am not an activist in autism awareness. In fact I didn't even tell anyone I have aspergers! Let alone be an activist. But no autism awareness here, at all. People don't even know what aspergers is. Finding a psychologist for me was a battle.

Enjoy! I'm so envious! Is Brazil safer than it used to be?

In the 1970s, Asperger was an obscure figure who wrote an obscure article. Autism was seen as a hopeless condition..I wonder if Brazilians still feel this way.

I'm not that political myself.

Interesting - I have always been very attracted to those physical traits in women also - pale, dark hair - especially redheads. I read something somewhere that with aspies it may be because of some genome traits - not sure what to think of that.

Nothing wrong with pale skin and dark hair, but I wouldn't say that's necessarily a type I find myself going for more than other types.

Pale skin and red hair on the other hand is a whole nother story :)

How can one be a redhead and have dark hair? I didn't think it worked that way.

Agree too. Long, dark hair, blue eyes and pale skin is super-attractive. It's even better if there are some unusual whorls and a blue tone in the hair too.

It's also interesting to note that the combination of blue eyes and dark hair is pretty unusual.

"Red" hair actually ranges from light orange to an almost maroon color. So it is possible to have dark red hair.

Pale skin with dark hair and light eyes. Those are Celtic features.
