They're straight guys you look at and straight away think "He's probably gay". I saw one this morning (unless he was an actual gay guy?)

I first came across the term in the early 00s, always in reference to David Beckham.

Men doing a lot of grooming and being particular about their clothes is nothing new - see the figure of the dandy, for one. Teds and Mods also come to mind.
