Do you mean as a significant-other or as a friend?

I prefer friends (men and women) who are more rational; friends willing to examine their own beliefs and intuition, and willing to challenge others on their beliefs. I find they make more interesting conversationalists. I can't negotiate with someone espousing opinions "because it feels right".

As for a S.O., I would like to find any woman who is not emotionally repelled by me. Even an icy-hearted 'square' or sentimental airhead would be a welcome diversion from my solitude. Since I have yet to find one who will permit me within her personal space, I don't see my prospects as very promising. "Nurturing" describes behavior I see directed toward others, never toward myself.

tldr: Beggars can't be choosers.

Yeah, I'm not sure this is a thing. Everyone is rational, and everyone is emotional. There may occasionally be extreme emphasis to either of these, or any number of other qualities, but that's a matter of degree and perception.
Yes. I also think this dichotomy inaccurately categorizes the diverse range of human personalities. I grant that it makes for a convenient question.

I'd be curious to see if there is any pattern or tendency, because on the surface it would seem to be very subjective. But perhaps not as much as we think.

I was always attracted to what might be termed very strong women. They were confident, attractive (to me) and intelligent. But on the flip side they were the type that could be understanding and emotional at times, that softness was there somewhere underneath.

I can't say it was planned. It was always a very natural and strong attraction when it happened. I do know I was more in tune with equal partnership all along.
