Can a first relationship work?
I've just heard it said so often that first relationships can't work out,
You're right, they can't. We might as well all never find a partner, die alone and never re-produce and make humanity extinct.
...or, we can take risks, learn to love and be loved and just have a good time.
That's not what I meant, I only meant was it worth risking a friendship over if chances are it wouldn't work out. Its been a long time since I've had a friend I've been this close to, and I don't want to ruin that.
Also, I don't plan on having children anyway. There are already too many people on this planet.
I have one friend who married his first girlfriend, and they seem alright...except they never hang out with friends anymore =(
Another friend is about to be in a similar situation, but they haven't become a hermit (yet?).
We are both hermits to begin with, so no worries there!
Thanks for the support. We are a little older (in college), but neither of us were interested in dating in highschool.

Here's a little true story for you about my friends:
They met at an amusement park in the Summer while we were all still in high school. He was 17, she was 15. I'm not sure if either of them had really dated before that - if so, it certainly wasn't anything serious. At their wedding several years ago there was a photo displayed in a slide show that showed them together in the same PRESCHOOL classroom many years before - so, really, they had met long before they met at the local amusement park. Fast forward to today & he's 31, she's 29, their daughter is 6 and their son is 2 (and I love them all!) & his business is thriving and they're doing fantastic.
Sometimes first relationships do work out, and in my friends' case, it's worked out spectacularly well IMO. There's no reason something like this couldn't happen for you or anyone else out there.

I've just heard it said so often that first relationships can't work out, because neither person has dated enough to know what they are looking for in a partner. But, I already think I know, I don't see why I have to date around to figure that out.
I can keep wrapping quotes but I think you have this worked out.
Your profile picture is adorable.
Thanks! I hope I never need M$ Paint to get a date however...
