I forgot to add, when I was talking about my gold-digger ex-husband: because I presented one case of a man being a gold-digger, does that mean all men are gold-diggers?

Money for being around someone I don't like doesn't cut it.

I'm too selfish to be a gold digger. You only get one life, money is meaningless next to that.

Reference, please? I know of no thread stating that "many men are rapists," although it is a fact that the overwhelming majority of reported rapes (and other sexual assaults) are committed by men. I myself have posted links to that information.

Why don't we try something different and argue about ageism instead of sexism for a change? Here, I'll start. :lol:

I do see evidence that the current generation (male and female) suffers from entitlement issues. For men, that could manifest as "I deserve to get laid" and for women as "I deserve to be a pampered princess."

Or we could try not being divisive at all.

just shifting the topic from woman golddiggers to golddiggers in general is enough surely. It's not a bad topic otherwise.

Eureka13 has already done that mostly with the first reply, by talking about an ex husband that was a golddigger.

Dad always joked "Geez, I wish I were rich rather than good looking (he was neither :wink: ). Anyhow, if he hadn't died of liver cancer 28 years ago, he'd be 79 today (today's his birthday.)

To someone who thinks in extreme(black/white) terms maybe. :roll:

Many women aren't gold-diggers obviously, although when someone is, it usually turns out to be a female.

This isn't the best example of gold digging. While we did see the guy in the not so nice looking car getting ignored by the lady, we also saw the rich looking guy get some attention. The rich guy even haggled the lady to get into the car, then he holds up traffic because the girl turned down his friend. A prank nonetheless, but the guy simply is an a**hole. The second video posted by Katiesboyfriend is a better example of gold digging.

aren't there many "con-artist" men that go after wealthy (and often elderly) women?

men are just as capable of using people for financial gain as women are--in fact i would say that quality is spread pretty evenly among the genders. yay humanity. :lol:

can we not at least entertain the idea that she might have gotten into the second guys' car because she thought he was cute and wasn't attracted to the first guy? how do we know it was the car that made the difference and not the guy?

well it still says that someone who manipulates people emotionally for money is more likely to be female, and i just don't think that's true; i think there are just as many mercenary dudes out there.
