Actually, the current trend is a comb over and a fade.

Yeah she's just saying what she would like to see. If you have short hair though, most women wouldn't be too keen on a middle part. It's up to you whether you care about that.

Tonight one of my friends at a bar introduced me to this girl and my friend said to her in regards to me "do you think my friend is the worst looking guy in the world". And she said "No". The girl then went onto to say "bulk up, get rid of the middle parting and get your hair spiked"

Are those comments good or bad?

I'd consider it constructive criticism. Also middle parting on guys is very 90s.

I would have responded to stuff that women could do to improve her looks to be more generic perfect looking but make it sound rude. I may be either getting to old and not caring as much or just learning better social etiquette but usually you refrain from telling random person this. I would listen to advice from my one friends who is a girl or one of my male friends because I trust them but from anyone else its pretty much f**k what they think.

I have found the more you try to change to meet someones expectations the worse it gets.

Well to be honest the foot was in it already. The girl was asked whether he was completely ugly. It's not a normal thing to ask people, and very dangerous if you're wanting positive feedback. I would never ask someone such a thing.
