It's just a date, not a marriage.

It's the interview, not the job.

I like that they are happy about their dates, it is rare these days to see men express this sort of thing with the vast amount of macho attitudes and players out there.

I'm not discussing the OP. I think it is great he will be out on a date.

I had no issue with your post. I thought Face of Boe unnecessarily brought bitterness and negativity into this thread.

They get happy and overjoyed for it because it rarely happens for them; and that's bad in many ways.

Anyway good luck for the OP.

8O sounds really serious, I hope it doesn't cause some complications...

I believe rarely dating someone is nice :) and do not believe it has some bad effects..maybe just inexperience
being different doesn't automatically mean you are defective

Agreed. It is expected that positive relationship things don't happen very often. In fact, I really would dislike constantly having a crush on somebody as it would distract much of my energy from special interests and about everything else. I'm really grateful it doesn't happen very often.

And inexperience doesn't mean much if anything. I'd prefer a girl that is inexperienced over one that has dumped lots of guys every time.

only cause they place high standards on what makes a good dating partner ie good man.

You don't buy a job, you simply get selected.

You get a job because you have the right competence and you can "sell" yourself properly (in some contexts). Some people (myself included) want a job they really enjoy, and don't care a lot about pay or social status, but in those cases it's not a market thing at all. Then it's more like a relationship in that we prioritize the enjoyment over pay and power. However, dating sites are advertised and run much like markets where people sell themselves based on resumes, competence and looks. That's a really dysfunctional way to get into relationships.

for a lot of people and this includes women. it is the same. they base wanting a relationship off of what the other person can bring to the relationship. money, cars, things, etc. its one of the main types of relationships . others being love and more.

I'd be ecstatic if I landed an interview for an incredible job, so why shouldn't I be ecstatic if I land a date with an incredible woman. That happened to me once. Unfortunately she lost interest like they always do.

You are comparing the 18 years old of you with a man of 34 years old.

I bet now that you wouldn't get that overjoyed just because of getting a date, you would only be if it was with a man that you have been already liking for long.

I don't think this is the OP's case, he mentioned that it's the first date in months; so I bet she's still stranger to him whether via online dating or real life.

There's a huge difference here.

I got a date on eHarmony a while back with a guy I hadn't met in real life. The guys at work had to ban me from talking about him, I got that excited.

Unfortunately he ended up not liking me :(

^ when was that?

Anyway, most dates don't get past the first date - so in my opinion, it's best to NOT be so overhappy, the higher the hopes the worse the disappointment/rejection.
Keep the hopes real and in check.

Earlier this year.

You're determined to be a wet blanket aren't you?

Bad idea. If you go to a date not being excited about being on a date with the woman, you are going to lower the chances of a good outcome. If you think it will not work out it won't.
