However, I think what people mean when they talk about forever is that they are happy and enjoying themselves now and they don't want that feeling to stop. The opposite of somthing coming to a stop is something that goes on forever. So what they are really saying is that they don't want the happy feelings they have when they are around you to stop.
When you don't agree with this forever idea it makes them think that you are not as happy as they are now. They think that if you were as happy and in love as they are then surely you too would want this to go on forever.
Makes sense, I mean of course people logically know you cannot predict the future and anything can happen and all that. But I have always taken it to mean people want the relationship to last not that they are trying to imply they can predict the future. Me and my boyfriend talk about future plans and how we hope it lasts forever because we do really want that, there is no point to over-analyze and constantly think about 'what if' this or that puts a stop to it. Also I think that would just direct bad energy at the relationship or at the very least be a waste of mental energy.
