And for some reason, those "nice guys" are the ones who refuse dating overweight women. Double standards ?...

Can't tell you how many ads and profiles I've seen claiming to be "BBW" and demanding someone attractive and tall. Even they think they're too good for someone just decent.

And men never ever do the same thing

lol.
Men are definitely just as shallow as women. It's not a competition, it's pretty equal.

Even in my twenties I'm finding most people are shallow. In fact I really doubt a lot of people who are "in love" didn't actually settle and are just in denial about it.

Well that's just depressing.

Maybe not assume what people are thinking. Its a bit rude to say that people who are in love actually aren't and are just settling. Your not in their heads you don't know what they are thinking

Maybe that person you say they 'settled' for is perfect to them

Jocks/cheerleaders are seen as ego boosters.

That said, you shouldn't be gaining insight on relationships from high schoolers.

I think this argument is a "push," personally.

You have shallow men, and you have shallow women.

And also male cheerleaders and female jocks.

Oh, I didn't know what jocks were and I guessed it was a generic offensive word. That pretty much halves the OP's dating prowess.

Of course it's a generalization. Remember, I used the word "tends." I've known girls who were substantial even at below age 10. By the way, it's the same with men...the same generalization.

i would try to avoid interacting too much with overly defensive people, some kind of violence from them tends to follow.

A jock is an athlete. Stereotypically, they are "all brawn and no brains."

If somebody is a football star in Italy, that somebody is a "jock."

It might come from "jock strap."

I've only worn one a couple of times in my life.

It goes to show how much of an "athlete" I am!
