I think any kind of friendship between single people of opposite sex and partners is not possible.

Pure and simple.

Most of my friends are of the opposite sex. I'm fairly certain most of them are not interested in dating me.

Are they in serious relationships though?
By "partners" I meant people in relationships.

I think this is up to people to decide for themselves, and there are no general rules. The problem I can see is that he thinks the rules are different for him and you, which is not acceptable. You need to come up with a shared rule regarding this, and then both of you need to follow it.

Some yes some no. If every guy wanted to date any girl, think of all the girls who are 1 to 5s who would be with guys who were 10s. Mr. Rich handsome guy with a sense of humor doesn't want me when he knows he can get a girl who is also a 10. But it would be nice if your perception were true.

Granted, I don't look that bad, but you get the idea.
