Oh, then I see there'd be no such chance. I've been called a pessimist my whole life, though the word doesn't mean much to me, other than "I don't want to hear you". I couldn't have been a pessimist about dating, however, because I never talked about it. It was the sensible thing to do, since I knew nothing about that aspect of other people's life.

Hehe, a nice example of such pessimism. I give one potential reason why I might not have dated you, and you take it to the negative extreme.

Though I suppose my wording wasn't the greatest either. Replace my "wouldn't have" with "mightn't have".

A freudian slip perhaps?

These things remind me of Aspies. We unintentionally say things the wrong way which can come off to some as blunt & politically incorrect & we don't conform to society so in a way we answer to nobody. If these qualities were really attractive, us Aspie guys would not struggle so much to get dates.

I guess they’re only attractive when you can afford to say them, knowing full well how hurtful they are to some people and plainly not giving a s**t. Of course they’re not so attractive if you say them because you’re clueless—and probably about to get beaten up.

:?:

Yes, I know what the phrase means; I just can’t tell how it applies to my post.

Guess what? I admire and envy the fact that you can describe my conclusion that you wouldn’t have dated me as pessimism. If I were to do the same when talking to someone else, I’d expect to be profoundly humiliated in short order, told to get off my high horse, not to mention it’d be all too obvious I’m desperately pretending someone can be interested in me precisely because I deep down know how true the opposite is.
