My 2nd girlfreind was going to college around the Denton area(some college town around there) & she talked like it was pretty liberal for Texas. She was an atheist & a bisexual borderline transgender.

I'm from the bible belt too & struggled majorly to find a girlfriend so I kind of know what Markins is talking about except instead of Baptist, we had Catholics.

Agreed. I was an anxious wreck until I stopped caring what strangers thought of me, even if they did think of me as a "sphincter". That's about the same time that I started dating, so there is definitely a strong correlation, if not a direct causation, between having a "Je ne sais quoi" attitude and being popular.

If I had the money to do so, I would've moved to Austin a long time ago. My mother used to live in Austin but this was long before I was born. She actually regrets moving. If I had been born and grew up there, my life would've been actually happy and productive.

Unfortunately, only jerks are valued where I live. Some have told me to just wait until I am in a better area but I don't know how long that will take and I've run out of patience. I feel like my life is already being wasted every day I go without having a girlfriend.

Lufkin's a redneck lodge from what I've been told. No idea about Nacogdoches.

Whenever I see a redneck or hip hopper with a cute nerdy/geeky girlfriend and they call her "b***h" or "hoe" and physically harass her, it angers me more than anything else. There were some girls whi would chase my older brother even if he was in a relationship and I was single but they kept ignoring me.

I don't think "nice guys finish last" is meant to be taken so literally. My understanding of the phrase is that it simply means all women find nice guys unattractive.

You can't wait for things to happen to you unless you're fine with waiting a long time. You need to make things happen. I understand that you were told that God had a plan for you and you were waiting for it to unfold all these years, but you're past that way of thinking now, and you should realise that going out there and doing whatever it takes to get to where you want to get to in life is the only way forward. If you let complacency and procrastination be the driving force of your life, you'll never get anywhere. You need to figure out how it would be possible for you to move out of your mom's and then work towards it and make it happen. No one can set your own life in motion but you.
