Congratulations! That is great for people like us. We will celebrate our 20th anniversary in October. Do you think having Asperger's made it harder for you to get into relationships? At least meaningful ones?

I feel like it might make things more difficult----but the difficulties can be overcome if both people in the relationship are people who are enlightened and knowledgeable, and are willing to compromise.

I agree with that. But do you think that Asperger's made it harder for you to get relationships started, or finding dates, things like that?

It probably does make it more difficult----especially when one is younger.

High school times tends to be very tough on people on the Spectrum; it was certainly very tough on me.

High School was better for me than Junior High was. In High School I was turned down by almost every girl I asked out, but at least I wasn't being bullied any longer.

I was bullied in high school. In my senior year, though, things got better. I was able to defend myself better.

That is sad to hear. Do you think you have fully overcome the effects of it? I know I haven't. I still feel the need to prove myself in certain areas, and get depressed when I can't.

That’s the way it is in the vast majority of people.

Sadly the relationship I wrote about didn't last. It just ended today in fact. Not because of the topics I wrote here but because of (numerous) other things. It was never really that stable and positive to begin with. Sure we had many good times, but too many difficult times too.

So now it's back to remembering what single life felt like.
