I think that at least in some places, people are doing that already. Friend groups of like 2 or 3 could hang out in person as long as they sanitize and stuff. The main thing is to avoid big crowds.

Are you absolutely certain of that?

Nobody ever showed any interest in me at the grocery store. Never ever-ever.
What have do done to be interesting?

Fnord be reasonable, no one is gonna get a date at the grocery especially in this social distancing situation.
Even if you are a super interesting Mr. Prince Charming.

The OP is absolutely right, the single people will be stuck for a long while.

I'll take that answer as meaning "I will do nothing to make myself interesting to other people".

Sorry, kid.  Can't help you.  There are already several other members of this website who for years have registered the same "It's hopeless/I can't get a girlfriend/It's society's fault" complaint, and who also refuse to act on the advice they've been given.

Maybe someone else has patience with this sort of thing, but not I.

Best of luck to you, though.

You are being very unreasonable; you are expecting people to do “interesting things” in the grocery, oh come on!!

If he was talking about parties, social clubs, social events, gyms, school....then your response would be true, but not when it comes to grocery! All people going to the grocery just go to buy stuff and leave asap, and people are much in hurry mode there now due to corona.

It's something that a lot of older generation men do when they talk about romance to younger guys.

ie. "In my daaaaays, I was used to chit chat hot babes in the street and kiss them right there, and they would fall in love for my confidence!"

A mixture of exaggeration and belittling, and dismissing how much times changed - frankly I don't buy their stories ever. It's for that reason why I prefer to listen to men in relationship who are around my age or younger.

I managed to get a girlfriend last year who turned out to be a narcissist and she dumped me on Christmas. Then the lockdown happened and now its clear that all the single people will have no avenue to meet anyone ever again.

excuse the robloxism OOF
christmas is always a rough time to have a relationship end. i heard the days right before it are amiogn the most common for breakups but, the day itself is probably the least.

i was, uh, tormented by a narcissistic psychopathic c**t for a long time and i know what it's like to be hopelessly in love with them despite that. i don't know what your ex was like of course, and you probably feel differently right now but i sincerely believe you are better off without her.

how is anyone supposed to know what will come across as "interesting" to other people? especially when they don't know them at all?
when i leave the house, what will give off a positive impression to other people is definitely not my first priority. i do what i like.

not saying you don't raise a valid point but i am confused. apparently people are supposed to put their own tastes first and simultaneously try appear interesting to other people.

For starters, it may help to know what people generally find unattractive; things like chronic complaining, blaming everyone but oneself for one's own problems, general hostility, and the attitude that goes along with being a self-appointed victim of society.

For another, what you see as attractive is likely to be the same things that others see as attractive: the appearance of good health, good grooming, clothing that doesn't scream "I Hate Myself", a cheerful disposition ...

Geographical distance is another issue.

WP zoom!

Quote:
Online dating for me is a definite no no. I've already had one friend who went through online dating, met a person who he has not met from Nigeria. He's spoken on voice and on video but ended being played and spent thousands on this woman. When they broke up, it broke him down on so many levels. He's never been the same person I knew both mentally and financially.

Online dating is fine for getting to know potential partners, but it's best not to give them anything of value (money, emotions, personal info, etc.) before you know who they really are. I'm sorry for your friend, I hope that he is more careful in the future, not that he loses all faith in humanity

I'm hoping so too, such a lovely guy but it hurts to see him in this kind of pain. I'm pretty sure after that experience, it should be enough to put him right off online dating. In fact, it has put him off but for some reason, I find it amazing he still believes in humanity, even though they treat him anyhow.

Need to have regional WP in-person meetups after the worst of this is past us.

Some of us were going to work on this anyway.

Patience. My online dating profile is getting a lot of hits lately. The opposite sex is also quarantined, lonely and half out of their minds with cabin fever.

BTW Venus is retrograde right now, so wait until late July (Venus return) to start anything new. Unless you're Fnord, who doesn't believe in astrology. *waving at Fnord* :)

Trust me, you don't want to be here. I don't want to be here.

You can’t meet anyone in a grocery store.

I’ve tried it. Richie Cunningham has tried it. No dice.

At least you DID meet someone last year, even if it turned out disastrous. So you’re better off than some folks here.

Yeah that's true. I just had some pains and posted this thread, because she hasn't 'come to her senses' and realised what she's lost. I haven't heard from her and I don't expect I will ever hear from her again. Even though I don't want to, it's not a nice thing to deal with, being put on a pedastal by someone as if you are perfect for them and then a few months later discarded like you never existed in the first place. Its crazy stuff. Like the whole time they are with some fantasy version of you that they made up, and not the real you.

You CAN meet somebody in a grocery store, but you can also win a lotto jackpot and be hit by a bus on the way out of the door of the Special Revenue office with your $100,000,000 check.

My friend met her husband in the toothpaste aisle, in Colombia. Neither is South American.

They've been married 25 years.

Stranger things have happened. :skull:
