People who break up don’t have to be enemies.

I’m thinking the ex-boyfriend might have regretted his decision to ghost Whale Tuune.
I've considered trying to contact my 1st girlfriend online. We were best friends before we got in a romantic relationship & she was the 1st person I ever really connected with & related to. We tried to remain friends after the breakup but we both had various issues we were dealing with & were both unstable(I especially was). We couldn't go back to just being friends cuz I was still very worried about her & I took things out on her. I never tried contacting her again because I thought it was better for both of us. The last thing I wanna do is suddenly come back in her life & stir up negative feelings from her past that she really should of moved on from. I just really hope she's OK. There's a chance she died shortly after we broke up from alcohol &/or drugs & if that really did happen I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

My current girlfriend's ex recently found her on Facebook & sent her a couple messages. They only had an online relationship. They broke up 10/15 years ago & Cass didn't know if it was him trying to contact her again. He has a pretty common name where he's from & he didn't identify himself in the messages he sent her. He was FB friends with Cass's mom before Cass & him got in a realtionship. The only reason Cass knows it was him for sure who messaged her is cuz he asked Cass's mom why Cass was ignoring him. He broke up with her cuz of religious differences. He was Muslim & Cass was a Christian at the time they got together & he broke up with her when she quit being Christian. Towards the end of their relationship she realized she wasn't in love with him but she didn't really know how to end things. She quit being Christian for reasons completely unrelated to him but she knew he would break up with her over it so she just let things end that way. The thing is that the messages he sent her recently were just things like like "Hi" & "What's Up" type messages. If he just wanted to know how Cass was doing, he could of just asked her mom. Also he really should know she's currently in a long-term relationship so he shouldn't be looking to get back together with her so me & Cass don't know why he suddenly wants to chat with her & we both feel he should of explained himself in the messages he sent her. She never used FB just to chat with random people so things don't make sense. I would have no problem if she were to respond to his messages & they chat & become online friends are whatever. The choice is hers how to proceed, I'd support her either way.

Last month I apparently received a text from my ex boyfriend to see if I was doing alright with COVID. I just saw it today though.

He just texted me back and said "yeah I was just trying to see if everyone was okay."

This is so awkward. Old wounds are reopening and all that. Either he'll try to get back together or promptly ghost me again... sigh.

It's almost impossible for me to know what to think without knowing much more about that previous relationship and why/how it ended. The only conclusion I can draw is that you carry way more emotional baggage regarding that relationship than your ex.

I hope you can "move on" soon.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but it seems to me you are probably still "in love" with this guy and you should give serious thought to getting back together with him. It depends of course on which of you dumped the other and whether he is with somebody else now. But not knowing any of those things, I think you should give it another try.
