They get asked out, Maybe they're just picky. When I see those dumb daytime talk shows, sometimes they have gorgeous actresses on who say they can't find a boy friend.

A boyfriend who is rich and/or famous you mean?

I don't know. My best friends were very, very pretty when I was a teenager. They never mentioned anything except wanting to be with fun people I guess the girls who dressed in ways that would look glamorous to men might have agendas but those who are just as pretty but aren't into the hair, make up, heels thing aren't like that.

Not maybe they're just picky ....but it's because they ARE picky .

a poor handsome man who's never geting a date may exist but an hetero gorgeous girl who's never getting a date? That simply doesn't exist.

Well geez...and I've always eliminated prospective dating prospects by 2 rules:

1. Offensive body odor and over-use of cologne.

2. and...If they act like a jerk they probably are.

Status and money usually make me wonder who has been stepped on in the process of achieving it...

If this theory about women were true, wouldn't Dick Cheney be a chick magnet?

Before I even read this I'm gonna say - of course they are. :? It's nature.

I will read it later, and then give what may be a more relevant analysis.

Women aren't attracted to men.

Women are not actually attracted to men. There is a vague idea of what a man is physically, and some are better than others aesthetically speaking, but the purely physical appearance of a man is almost inconsequential unless he is horribly ugly or outrageously attractive.

Women are attracted to status, money, how much a man smiles and laughs, how many friends and resources a man has, how full a man's life is--how many "cool," "exciting" and prestigious things he is doing or connected to.

They are interested in how other people view him--how many people want to be around him, how other people interact with him and whether their interactions convey that he is special and amazing. They want him to be extremely outgoing and aggressive, they want him to demonstrate his status over other people by dominating them in various non-violent ways.

A woman's attraction to a man is a function of her jealousy at the thought of another woman having that man. She doesn't care who he actually is or EXACTLY what he looks like physically, she only cares about the VALUE of the life he has constructed around himself.

A woman basically is a greedy materialistic prostitute. Although that sounds vulgar, it's true. She trades her physical self to buy into the success a man has created for himself.

As a man, I fall in love with how a woman is physically. I fall in love with simple parts of a woman. Like the way her hair falls around her face, the line of her neck, her shoulders. They way her ears might peek from her hair. Her eyelashes. The size and shape of her hands, her fingernails. The way she walks, the way she looks when she is tired or annoyed, the sound she makes when she sneezes, coughs, or cries. The way she sits in a chair. The way she breathes while experiencing different emotions. The way her lips move. A million little things.
Sure, a huge part of my attraction is mental, but the powerful seed of love that builds within me and crystallizes is based greatly on visual things that set off torrents of emotion and need.

It seems to me that women almost cannot think for themselves. Their estimates of worth are based on other peoples' estimates of worth. They don't really find an object beautiful on their own. The object becomes beautiful when other people let her know that it is beautiful.

I'm completely unable to reconcile the differences between men and women. It seems like success with women is equal to spending half of your life working to create a giant illusion, something vastly tiring and annoying, while sacrificing your own true self and your own interests. We construct our lives around nest-building. We're like male birds building nests and showing them off to attract mates. It's pathetic. Everything we do is to get women. It is a f***ing sh** deal.

Someone needs to invent a drug which has no hormonal imbalance side-effects but is able to erase a man's sex drive and attraction to women. It would increase productivity rates to incredible heights. I'd be free and happy. I'd feel complete. I'd be able to concentrate on my biochemistry studying.

So this is probably why so many guys here can't get a girlfriend. Oh, and before the women here start to flame, the author is talking about NT women. I think this article is true for a majority of women today(50.1%+), but not all.

I put in bold the bits that show that this author is trying to portray women as an inferior species to men. The article implies that women are intellectually inferior, because we are apparently incapable of thinking for ourselves. It says that we are prostitutes who are willing to trade in our bodies for money and power.

I don't care whether you think this represents all, 50%, or even 25% of women, or whichever percentage of NT women. I don't care if you think having aspergers would make me exept from this, because I identify as being a woman just as much as I identify as being an aspie - if not more so. I think it's incredibly offensive, not to mention complete BS.

To suggest that women are intellectually inferior to men, which this article does, is just outdated sexism which is not borne out in real life. Ditto the idea that we don't have desires of our own... I have free will, I can choose to follow my desires, (and by the way, the paragraph I put in italics describes perfectly the way I feel about men I like), or I can choose to act cynically. Although, when you consider that like most women these days I have my own money and social life, you'd wonder why I'd bother to act cynically.

I too have a lot of trouble with finding a healthy relationship, and I guess sometimes I try to invent reasons for it, like that guys only want to f**k teenagers or girls that are thinner than me. When I calm down I know that its an insult to the intelligence of the opposite sense and my time would be better spent doing a million other things, and one day one of them is going to lead me to the right person.

About some of the replies - what is it thats supposed to be wrong with being picky? Relationships are miserable things when you're not that into the person you're seeing.

I knew this about women, even though the article puts it in a negative light. It's actually something I appreciate, that they're usually not anal about guys' appearance. The article understates the role looks plays in women's attraction. It's definitely a factor, but one of no less than 10, I've been told.

Go look up a pic of hale_bopp; most guys would agree that she's attractive, but if I remember correctly, she doesn't have a boyfriend.

Maybe she doesn't want one?

I don't remember that as being the case.

Look, you guys need to remember that the women on this board are not like most women. When you post a statement like this about women, it pisses us off because we feel like we're being grouping into a generalization.

In my opinion, that article sounds like it was written by a guy who had a really bad experience with someone and is now taking his bad experience out on all women. Yes, there are materialistic b*****s out there who will use you until you're dried up and then move on, but there are men out there who will too. My point is that there are a lot of sh***y people out there, but there are also a lot of good people out there.

I've had some bad experiences with guys but I know they don't represent every man out there. Stop generalizing and start placing blame on the individuals who have hurt you - that's where it belongs, not blanketed across an entire group of people.

Well, they did show a topless photo of him on the Daily Show a few years ago.

That's why I'll probably as picky as can be about personality myself to my last day and, if the odds are that what I want is too unrealistic, then I'll gladly take singlehood for life and I'll deal with all the jabs my friends give me about wanting to get me a hooker for my birthday or buying me gay magazines as pranks. I just can't and won't have my life dominated, I lived my first 20 years of life like that and I'm sure as hell not into getting a 30% payoff (companionship, love) at a 70% cost - its horrid.

I agree with this guy.

_____________________

The thing about stereotypes is that they cause a self-fulfilled prophecy because a lot of people are idiots that want to fit in. I see examples of this self-censorship all the time in grown up girls. . .
. . .and I saw it in the upbringing of my own cousins who went from being playful and curious toddlers to intolerant, self-concious, uptight and narrow minded Britney Spears fans at the hands of a fascist dad and a hollow mother who made it a point to have things this way (for example by slandering me and ridiculing my opinions). Last time I checked there was a little rubber football in the boy's craddle.

Another thing that the article reminds me of is how at uni - myself being relatively muscular, handsome, smart, trustworthy, polite, even funny - I was socially isolated and girls that I had never spoken with never approached me (like, not even out of curiosity) in favour of guys that were completely the opposite in each and every one of those characteristics. Even when I did approach they would then ignore me in rude and obvious ways in favour of more obvious flirting attempts by uglier, dumber people.
I ignore the cases where a cool looking guy with a cool attitude has a girlfriend; those are understandable. . . I'm talking about chicks spending their time flirting with a flabby git wearing a beer-gut-stretched mustard-stained t-shirt who backstabbed people for the sake of it, was ridiculously selfish and spread rumors of whatever girl rejected him being a lesbian. I'm talking about girls wondering whether they should cheat on their years long relationship boyfriends to get laid with a guy like this that - everyone knows - would immediately make his feat a public matter. . . and ditch them.

Further. . . I just don't know how can people have these ideas about relationships and still think about love as if it were compatible. How can honest love be compatible with so much hypocrisy and contempt for the other person? - thing is: I've seen it; a cultured old man making statements implying the inevitable inferiority of women before his beloved wife. It really seems to take a psychological distortion - a kind of denial - I cannot have. . .

I'm not kidding, until the moment I lost my virginity with my current girlfriend i.e. last year, I thought I was going to remain so my whole life.

So. . . while the article is full of s**t. . . so are people.
People seek stereotypes. People become stereotypes.

I hadn't read the ending of the article. Other than that, most of the content shows up in typical articles about picking up women. . . it's basically the same down to the 8th paragraph.
